Name: Supernova

Genre: Sci-Fi

Bio: Our team have been hard at work writing the story for this epic since early this year, and we've only been waiting for the release of X10 to make it the best it can be. Now it's here and we are well on our way, already having the first two levels all complete and much of the level designs in stone.

Story: Supernova, set in the future long after the destruction of Earth and 11 of the 12 planets in our solar system, you play a ruthless bounty hunter just trying to earn a living. However you are soon set a series of tasks that seem to make no sense, but you ask no questions as your price rises. To make matters worse, you are haunted by dreams and visions of someone else from a distant galaxy, and as your questions grow, you are torn and must decide what's more important to you: the money, or your secrets. Soon the price is not just on what you're trying to retrieve but also on your own head.

Release Date: TBC 2008

Looks cool, but you shouldn't overuse the bloom. I would also like to see some more pics showing more areas and some battles

Nice, but as Snipesoul said, I think the bloom is too promenant. Are you using stock media or custom? Because I don't have a problem with stock, as long as it's used properly, and in conjunction with some custom stuff.

Yeah, that's why there's the bloom - the visions use bloom in their levels for effect

There are more screenshots on the way with plenty of action sequences, but we're still in the development phase so you may have to wait some time before the killer scenes hit the forums

Plus as we are currently finishing off a selection of cinematics, a teaser trailer may soon be on the way...

Did you script the bloom to show up temporarily? I think you can do that, and it would sure be a cool effect if done.

Well generally the levels consist solely of either a vision or you playing as yourself, so the levels either have or don't have the bloom effect, however we shall look into that as I don't think at the moment there is a way to do that without using scripts.

Well spotted - we've taken the frames of a chugshot firing and have created a "warphole" with the effect - no chugshot in view

wow...looks pretty nice

The water reflections looks very nice and realistic (In picture 1 and 2), which after my opinion were one of the things, that FPSC X10 surprised me best by.

This game really shows X10's ability to produce next gen(or this gen) graphics, as long as you do it right. By the way I like you level design.

PARTICLES! (caps off) These pics are really almost pushing X10 to it's limits! Where's the dynamic real time shadows?

@ FredP
What might be bothering you is that the fresnel and reflection effect of the water is a little too high. It's buggin' me too.

@ Snipesoul
Yeah haven't seen dynamic shadows alot in X10 either, I don't own it, just by the screenshots. Weird.

But again, this game is looking great. Can't wait to see a demo! Looks very professional.

*Just a design tip, change the font of what looks like Comic Sans MS to something more sci-fi, (what's above SuperNova), so it will look more serious.

Check out DaFont.com for fonts.
But overall, looking absolutely great.

Hey man, I think this looks awesome. It shows what X10 can do, and it looks like Supernova is swaying my mind about getting a new computer (I kinda need one for Crysis anyway).

The whole feel of the game is great and I love the font on that poster screen at the beginning of your post (the font of all the background messages).

I'll keep watching this. Definately.

LOL that poses a question - is it still "next gen" if we've got it now?

We were toying with that idea from the start. In the end we felt that we needed a more "hand written" look to make it a bit more eerie, as the story has a slight horror aspect to it. But if you think that it ruins the sci-fi effect then we'll have a look at changing it to suit the theme .

We got both fonts from DaFont.com it's a great site, definitely a must for anyone looking for good fonts for their game, I totally agree.

A bit of both in the screenshots actually. The warphole in the second screenshot was something that we had to rip apart from the chugshot and it looks fantastic, but a lot of the rest is the stock stuff at the moment.

Thanks for all your support guys, a few more screenshots to come!

A more handwritten look...hmm. Sounds good, maybe go for something more sloppy, just an opinion.

Haha, I think everyone is man.

I mean, how can you NOT sell a game made with this product?

I mean, after the first $5000 of indie selling, something has to happen between TGC and the seller. But, I mean, common, letting us make 5 GRAND before this stuff is pretty generous.

AaronG has spoken wise words for us all. i plan to have my game on the shelf by either late 2008 or early 2009. look out for "Armageden" though bythe time it comes out yall would have forgotten about it. though i will be sure to give credit to fpsc x10. they really deserve the credit for such an amazing product.

I think producing games is just like music. Everyone who has a band is going to be a rock star. Everyone who has x10 is going to make a great game. Let's just see who's around this time next year.

I just pray that in 3 months we don't see posts talking about making a game just like Crysis or BioShock. Some originality pulleeeeeeze!

i dont know the story to Crysis, but im not a fan of copying a genius, i like being a genius all by myself. you just get more pride in your work when you know its not someone elses. (though the Doom3 Fan Game is pretty cool, that isnt what im talking about.)

Yeah.
But anyway, back to Supernova.

To the Supernova dev team:
I would LOVE to lend a hand in models or textures or even trailers for this game! Any help you need I will be willing to do for free. Maybe even join the dev team? That'd be great!

EDIT:
E-mail me some video footage or your game, like 20 5 second or so clips that I can compile together, and I'll write a piano theme to go with this for a trailer.
E-mail the clips to : axiferdesigns@gmail.com

Can't wait to help!

Yeah sure, we'd love any help! One of the guys at the moment is preparing a very early teaser trailer, perhaps we could send it to you once we've put it together? A theme would be awesome for you to do

Also we do need a hand with some of the models/textures, I'll send you an email with some information

Supernova is a common name. Any trademark trouble with the movie, bands, conferences etc? I know Tommy Lee had to change the name of his band because someone already had it.

Those last batch of screens are fantastic! Especially the first one, great lighting. X10 looks sooo nice with the bloom toned way down - you can actually see the normal mapping then.

Looks interesting, went a little crazy with the bloom but I guess you already know that and it was done intentionally.
