could someone help with a velociraptor model that i have? im not good with characters, and im not good with scripting.

it has all of the animations in .smd, and i don't know how i could make it fpsc ready.

Also, do i need to have a special script for the velociraptor character? if i do, could i get a scripter do that?

Goosebox,

Nice looking velociraptor. Unfortunately, it's in .smd, which is Half Life's file format.

Distributing this model will not be allowed on these boards, so don't try. Due to the sensitivity surrounding copyright issues, you would be banned if you do.

For your personal use only:

In Milkshape, EXPORT/DIRECTX(JT) will allow you to export it into .x format.

It'll need a brand new .fpe file. Once that's in place, there are more than a couple of good scripts that would work well for you.

Why would anyone back up their own animations in .smd, instead of Milkshape's native .m3sd? Where did you create the animations? Milkshape?

On the one hand, you aren't good with characters (models). On the other hand, you happen to have a darn incredible set of models, and the full animations, that just happen to be in Half Life's format.

yes, i did animate in milkshape, and you can export stuff in .smd in milkshape, so why so pondorous?

No you wouldn't. Milkshape can animate. Fragmotion is just another 3D Modeling application that you can use.

If you animate them in Milkshape, all you need to do further along is to make scripts for it to show the animations.

the dinosaur armor style dinosaur, i like the idea, but, first ill try to get the melee attacking version working first....

then, ill try to get the shooting one, (if i can model it right and animated right) after the melee one.

That's going to depend on how original the armor is. I'm with CG; that looks a little too Halo-ish for my taste (I'm not even a Halo nut and I know that one!), and considering how hot that IP is, that's not a good thing. If you want to try to get a lawsuit on your hands by selling a game with that model in it, God bless ya, but I'm hoping that is the case and this is not intended for public release, because combined with Seth's observations, that would get your thread locked and a ban.

Now, an armorless raptor model could fly around here, because there's a bit of a shortage of non-human characters.

Well, the armor better look familiar... It's Halo armor... And like I said in a previous post, I would change the armor (Into my own)... and of course I would not use the gun (I'll use FPSC guns) BTW, my game is also free. But thanks for your consern on my legal standings PS: How is the raptor getting along? It looks really cool!

well, i rebooted my computer because it had a virus i couldn't tame ,but first backed up all of my custom stuff on my external harddrive, reinstalled everything, but my computer can't detect my harddrive when i connect it....so i gotta find a way to get the stuff off of there....so, i havn't really done much...

Uh huh. Those models looks like Gunmans one. Which just happens to be made with Valves old engine which uses .smd animations.

Why would you, when you can just as easily export DBP ready .x files? I don't even see the issue here, if it is indeed your model, but since you said you're not good with characters we know it isn't. Where did you get it from?

I just don't understand what you get out of making out you made something when you didn't. I like the feeling of accomplishment when I do something myself and am proud of it but taking someone else's work and making out you made it is just.... stupid.
