Hello all!

I have a prob with a model I made. I animated it to walk in 30 frames I think, but when I used the code from the DarkBasic tutorials on character animation, it bombs. The program loads up, shows the character doing the animation for maybe half a second, then turns into a jumble of triangles and rectangles that change angle and position to the camera when movement keys are pressed, nothing else. What is wrong?

BTW, the model is in .X format. There are two files appended to each other. When I tried the exact same code for some of the DB provided models like goblin and samurai, they worked. This one that has the problem is original.

Thanks for your help!

Can be that model was not exported properly to X format or that there was wrong exporter used ...or that wrong options were used when exporting...

Also...DB does not work with mesh deformation, do you know it?

Tell us what modeling software you were using and hove you exported it to X.

The model was originally made in Blender, then converted to DXF, then loaded up in 3DS Max 4.2 where it was textured and converted to X format. The converter used was the Panda DirectX Exporter http://www.pandasoft.demon.co.uk/directxmax4.htm

I also did not use a skeleton on the model. I am way new to Max and don't know a whole lot about it.

Thanks for your help!

It's not fixed at all. I'm just explaining what happened. When every I try to load up my own personal from-scratch X-format model, using the above exporter, in DBC, it bombs. When I tried the animated character tut in the extra tut booklet that comes with DBC, it worked fine with the original models that came with DB in the Media folder. But when I used my original animated model it shows the complete model for maybe half a second then displays a series of geometric shapes on the screen that change angle and dimensions to the camera everytime the movement buttons are pressed. What's wrong?
