Your sig looks cheap. The spacing of the letters, blurring of said text, and the background upon which the aforementioned characters sit do nothing for it.

Ahem.

Dim the background a little, and push the text into the corner, applying a strong motion blur to the leftmost character, and a weaker blur to the others for consistency.

Narrow the image size a little and it should look nice.

Give me an ounce of irony, good apothecary, to sweeten my imagination.

FINALLY! I real comment. Almost everyone I showed said basically all the same thing, but never gave me any real feedback.. I wasn't going for anything flashy, I just wanted better than my old, which I believe I got. Also, what else can you expect from 10-15 minutes from a relitively new to graphics person? Thanks for the feedback. (Also, I have to have it at that res for my own reasons, not about to go to detail.)

maindric,

the actual text is nearly "non-existant". i'm no graphics pro at all but when i look at graphics (mine or otherwise), i glance at it first. if something catches my eye, i look at it again and for longer to see what's really going on there. glancing at yours, the neon "electric clouds/smoke puff" outlines really pop and demand attention (i really like those. almost looks like "soft" magma ). at "first glance", i thought the green blurs were gaseous clouds. heh. if it wasnt for the yellow/red, i wouldn't have looked twice and noticed the green was actually text. one thing that i think would help a lot is to clean the centers of the letters out completely. make it a solid black, or atleast take any green out of it (examining the graphic, i don't see any transparency/background showing through. removing the green and either leaving solid black with crisp outlines on the inside, or allowing the background to show through, again, removing the green inside, leaving a crisp outline), would help a lot.

my 2 cents

Honestly, I tried all black, it was allot worse than this. It is kind of an oarnageish color, which is close to red, so I chose to make green so that it would be complomentery to the oarnge part, so it is readable. If I made it black, you would not see any words what so ever. and a solid green did not look good to me. So, I did that. I just basicaly guassion blured the text uner it, and noised and motion blured it for the streaks. I was hoping people would like it. But no reall good comments yet. Also, the last comment, not sure if I should take that bad or good or both. i think both. 0.o

Using contrasting colours like you have done there can make things look tacky.
The letters are spaced way to far apart.
The blur lines make the text harder to read.
The "lava" background looks generated which again always makes things look tacky!

examples:
Bad

Good

The same colour scheme and subtle background makes the second image look better. Also adding highlights and shadows the text stands out!

Well my old one got old. Since I haven't finished (started) working on my next model, I changed it to this 23 million-year-old image of Whirlpool M51.

I think that you should pick another color tone than red and green because red and green are hard to see together, especially color blind people. To them the green letters would not appear to them. Other than that, I think it looks cool.
