Has anyone else seen this error (attached) during game play? If so, were you able to fix it?

My game has three levels, and I get this at the end of level one.

Thanks in advance.

Is this happening in a Winzone?
The obvious would be if you were missing a file for the Winzone.

Yes. It has happens in the Winzone of level 1. Do you know what all the Winzone files are or should be located?

Thanks for your reply.

EDIT: I did a folder comparison with a build I did of the first two levels prior to the updates. I did not find anything in the older version sound related that is not in the newer version.

I think it may be something other than a missing file.

Yes, I had this after updating to 1.05.
Solved by running the installer again, selecting repair and then applying blood patch, model pack 1, model pack 2 and updating to 1.05 again.

audiobank\misc\soundtrigger.wav

...is the default sound for the winzone.

Double check the winzone that is causing the trouble to see if that path accidentally got changed.

Right click it and look at the sound properties.
Also check that sound file with an external player because that file may have been corrupted somehow during the update.

I would try changing that winzone sound file to one that you know is good.

CE - I've checked the soundtrigger.wav. I actually here it right before the system crashes. I don't think it is the problem file, but maybe something right after it.

Will - I'll try reinstalling and see if that fixes my problem.

Thanks for your replies.

Are you running FPS Creator as an Administrator (not your user account, but actually went into the Compatibility settings and click on 'Run as Administrator')?

That's right, I set permissions for my user name on the folder and all its subfolders.

I forgot about Vista permissions crap. That could very well be the problem.

Not really crap, they are finally enforcing good programming skills.

But yes, you will need to set this for FPS Creator X10.

TS/CE,

Can you please give this Vista newbie some step-by-step instructions on the Vista permissions suggestion. I apologize for my ignorance, but I am new to Vista.

I know you can run programs as an Administrator, but I am confused by the "folder and all its subfolders" part. Which folders, and what permissions are you setting?

I tried just running the game executable as administrator, and I still get the error.

Thanks.

Okay, I have set the permissions to the User and Program Files X10 directories to full control, and I have set my X10 shortcut to run as administrator. Did I miss anything?

I have reinstalled X10, reapplied the blood patch, reapplied model pack 1, and reupdated to v105.

I am now rerunning the build. Hopefully everything will work now.

Thanks.

EDIT: The build completed and the game works! However, somewhere in the reinstalling/repatching process, I lost the blood pack. My built game does not include blood or ragdoll physics (or music). However, I guess on the bright side, I have a pre-teen version of the game that I can also offer (if I get the teen version working).

Thanks again for your replies, comments and suggestions. I'm not 100% there, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
