DarkBASIC. I tried making one in Visual Basic and I failed.

I have tons of programming experiance, and here is how far I got:

Look at the screenshots, download the latset version, and see how crappy it is. Thats with Visual Basic.

Now with DarkBASIC, I was able to immitate that in about 1 day. That hole thing took me weeks to do that, MONTHS..Just for that.

DarkBASIC is the way to go, unless you got an entire team of developers.

I'd go for DarkBASIC everytime, although I must admit my knowledge of Visual Basic is limited. As Morph said, using DarkBASIC is simple and you can knock up a decent 2D tile engine in a few days, in fact, if you wanted you could even do it in 3D with the matrix commands very easily and just position the camera directly above if you still wanted a 2D effect.

Also, you wouldn't have to look any further than these boards if you wanted other people to join your team or if you got stuck with something.

You can see my creation - Ultima IV in DB. It runs just like the original and has somewhere around 15K lines. It's definitely a great program to do 2D!!!

Also on the site are various other games I made
