yo all. long time no see!
who remembers the BlueLight Online [BLO] game i was working on?
i got really good votes on it from you guys. also got some sponsers by that time..
now a year and half after that time, i've finally started working on a new and improved engine of BLO.
this time, i've got much more stuff done than the last time. maybe the models look little bit "SUX" but they are wonderful models, and i like them. cuz they are BONE MAN from 3d studio max.

anyways, if someone dont remember the game, or dont know it, just look around the forums for "BlueLight Online" thread.. got few of those

but this one (hopefully) will be finished. cuz this time im working on the game little bit diffrent. working so far, the whole game build up on the scripts i made..
so far, the engine code is 4500 lines of code. and the scripts are over 1400 lines of code.. all what you gonna see in screenshots and in the demo that ill put soon, all programmed inside the scripts and compiled with my script compiler.

so far i have:
- Chat System with Word Wrap + Colored text
- water effects
- RTL System (Real Time Load)
- Gravity/Collision
- Orbit Camera
- 3D Mouse
- "Can see each other
- online login/registration
- you can choice between Male/Female models
- 3 slots of players each account you can create

23.02.08:
- 3 huge maps
- NPCs
- Draggable menus
- trees
- really nice collision
- movement animation for the player
- NPC selection
- Glow effect on limbs..
- now you can whisper by typing "/w <Nick> <msg>" to the other, it will show the msg in "Yellow colored" msg
- the positions of the players are saving online automaticly now!

02.3.08:
- New NPC Created (Guider) - to guide you.
- Exit Menu Created (Escape Button)
- Options menu created
- Disable/Enable water FX on options
- All the options saves ONLINE
- Max bug fixed
- Online Players movement are smooth now!
- Gravity fixed for the online players
- Quest Menu Created (Q Button)
- Talk with Guider NPC and get a Quest
- NPC Quest Menu Created(Talk to the guider NPC)

Controls:
Middle Click - rotate camera
Right Click - Select NPC (while the npc is BLUE-glowing and the distance between you and him is small)
Mouse Scrool - zoom in/out camera
Left Click - move player
Enter - open/close chat/send msg
Escape - Open/Close exit menu
Q - Quest Log

Beta(3.3MB/16.02.08): http://files.filefront.com/BLO160208rar/;9644976;/fileinfo.html

Video(29.02.08):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjnqmagbzN4

known bugs:
- your start position and the <OTHER> start position should be the same position, but looks like the positions are not the same (On start Only)
- when chat is opened, you pressing you pressing Q button, it types + opens the Quest Log

Please report for ANY bugs you see.. collision/gravity/multiplayer/sudden stuff etc.

Ah it's not that great, you just put a gui together and few objects on the screen, anyone can do that.

Just joking dude, it looks really good mate - you online game creation has definitely come along...I'd love to test this out, unfortunately my internet computer can't run games very well at all. (it barely runs Firefox)

omg where are all?
i remember long time ago, in one day, i had around 20 new threads.. this time noone is here..
like the forum is empty or something

anyways.. new updates:
- got 3 new diff. trees
- new map created
- few fixes on the old map (texture fixes)
- multiplayer movement fix (fixing it till it will be the smoothest as it possible)
- there is v.big drop frame rate, but its ok, the fps is dynamic in my game.. once the trees/map/objects/textures/players/houses etc. are not rendered, it will erace all of it from the engine (including the collision of those stuff)

Sergey, I must say that this is looking great!

The project I'm working on is currently on hold, meaning that I would be more than happy to help design the map, seeing as it is my speciality. Here is a link to some of the renders which I did of the project.

@baconboy2: thx for your help, but i would like to work on the project all alone..
as i remeber, ALL of my other projects were currently always on hold because ONE thing.. the only thing is that i couldnt work on it normaly cuz i always waited for someone to help me with the project..right now, im working a lone.. this means, im drawing, 2d/3d, animating and programming all in one time
and basicly, the project looks really good when im working all alone on it..

but thx for the suggestion..

btw. everyday (hopefuly) ill make a new features for the game, and ill make a "ScreenShot Of A Day" to show you the progress..

screenshot of a day:

features:
- BlackSmith NPC added
- 3d Nicks on each NPC
- when selecting NPC, it will glow blue
- some Smith Items like hammer and stuff that behind the NPC that i dont remember how its called

If it's within the next 5 days I can be online all day, otherwise between 5pm and 9pm GMT. Just after I get in from school. I had a look at your old BLO screenshots aswell.

Are you going to include the old player character in the new version?

Well, he said he was in the army so I doubt he lives with his parents, so he pays his bills.

@Prince Of Darkness: the problem is that i cant.. im making new stuff inside the game, that requres work with server.. i cant pause the game progress for few days because of that >_<

and its nothing to do with bills btw.. my pc and im responsable for it.. one problem is that my network disconnects sometimes.. and my IP is changing.. its kinda sux to leave the server UP while the network is disconnected =/

In what way?

The current uptime record for my Internet coverage is 6 minutes 38 seconds. Modem overheats and general local Internet failures are to blame.

Try a free ftp server to download the IP-adress(es) from. Ofcourse, I'd encrypt them...

thats not the point~

lets say the server is running now, the internet disconnected in a middle of no-time.. im away from keyboard... the ftp-ip-uploading not helps here..
once im near the PC, i have no problem with changing the IP all the time..

BlueLight dropped the free service in February 2001 and was reacquired by Kmart in July 2001. In 2002 United Online, which owns the NetZero and Juno bought the Bluelight service after Kmart filed for bankruptcy. In 2006, Bluelight dropped the banners. The service now cost $8.95 a month. I don't think Phaelax is accusing you of stealing the name. I mean, it's not as if the name is really that good anyway.

I tried your game. It worked well, but there were graphical glitches that I now believe to be a hardware problem on my end. I also did not like the fact that it had to read scripts after almost every mouse click.

...that is, if I ever become a full-time player.

Which, unless I get some new hardware, I can't see happening. This is the first DBP game I have this problem with. Any idea what the cause could be? I will post screen in a bit.

Hi I'm hosting the server application, believe it or not, on one of my Linux servers...>.> <.<...and i would like a little feedback about any connection issues you have or the speed of the connection latency etc...since this is the first public test of any of my services on this connection...stuff like your internet speed what country your in, what part of the US if in the US, and what issues your seeing...this is all unrelated to the actual game...

Thanks
EddieGordo
