working on the artwork for a new 2d game i'm working on. Supposed to be a remake of the crappy "Bible Adventures" on the NES.

let me know what you think

Had to laugh. Bible and crappy in the same line, just seems sacrilegious.

The art looks good though.

Dan has some serious pixel skills huh!

I really think you should look for a small group of GBA/DS homebrew people, that style would suit it perfectly.

less is more, but if less is more how you keeping score?

thanks guys!

Van B:
yeah, it was meant to be a mockup for a GBDS game, though I probably wouldn't have the time to make it into a full fledged DS title. Just a small hobby project of mine.

Nice man. I loved the original Bible Adventures! I played it for hours on end till I would be noah's quest or baby moses's quest. Btw man David and goliath's quest was insanely hard once u got to the later levels. Keep it up. All the best,

slight update:

The idea is to take the crappy crappy game of Bible Adventures, and make it look and play entirely badass! -To turn it into a high quality nintendo DS game. -And most importantly, to make someone actually WANT to play a bible game

This particular screen is for Noah's Arc. I'd still have the same basic gameplay element as the original (stacking animals over your head) but I'd add a couple more things...

One major addition would be the flood. The game is constantly raining as you play, and the water level slowly rises - acting as a sort of timer for the game. Forcing you to work fast, or lose. This also forces you to work up the level vertically to new platforms you wouldn't have been able to get to unless the water raised. Occasionally a Dialog box from God would appear on the upper screen saying "Hurry Noah! The flood is coming" and things of the sort.

I was also thinking about adding animal interractions - a sheep and a lamb wouldn't get along too well when stacked together.

Anyway, this is just in the mockup stage, but I thought I'd share anyway.

-Dan

It's funny that this thread has more swear words than any other I've seen today...but looking good, nonetheless!

Can't wait to see progress on this game I loved the original and beat 2 of the three capmaign modes! I escpecially like the idea of the flooding effects although making animal interactions would add to the animal as being real instead of plain 2d, but I appreciated being able to carry 2 lions a squirrel and a lamb all at the same time so u could make less trips. Although having the physics on the animal's like when you jump they go up too and flop of some times, if it's a large jump, would be good too. All the best,
Beastegargoyle

I think you should add Rivalries between animals so that they al lcan't be in certain compartments off the boat[If there is any], and can't be next to each other.

Such as the Fox eat's the Sheep. While the lion which is one of the most dangerous has to be by itself, or else it will eat anything!

Impressive work! I had a pixel art class last semester, and this kind of stuff is just impossible for me.. I had trouble with a mere 16x16 sprite XD
