Ok no worries man heres your tut.

Step one:
Copy this code for a script into notepad, and save it as koth.fpi:

Make your map, before you switch it to multiplayer, put a dynamic entity in the spot you want the "hill" to be, assign the koth.fpi as the main fpi for the dynamic object.
Go in your setup.ini find these lines and change them to the number shown:
gameobjectivetype=1
matchtype=2

I read the read-me but I am still a little confused.

So all I have to do to make my game a team deathmatch...match, is copy-paste the code in the read-me in setup.ini? Is there anything else I have to do?

Sorry if the question is any kind of inconvenience, I just thought that the whole process was a little too easy.
(If it is supposed to work like this, congratulations on making one of the user-friendliest mods on the planet)

Just set your teams up by naming the character entities, for example name 4 of them Team A and 4 Team B then copy and paste the setup.ini lines in the helpfile into the setup.ini that your built game folder has, and you are done!

And by the way- thank you to the 117 people who have downloaded Lemur Free Edition!

I noticed that in king of the hill mode players cant respawn. Is there a way to change that because king of the hill is too easy if players can't respawn.

Well it's not because of king of the hill... Did you put the script on a item and not a player?

hey, I downloaded lemur demo.exe, replaced my FPSC-Game.exe with it. (kept a backup) but when I run the test game it says: cannot find script at line something or other. Extra debug info: 0.0.

I know it says don't run it in test game, but somewhere on the forum it says it works with it now. Could someone please tell me if this is true, and if so, what I am doin wrong. Thanks.

Never do that... Just replace the executable in the final built game.

Two quick questions:

1. I thought that you couln't sell FPSC mods. Maybe I am wrong?

2. Is it compatible with EFX?

It only looks like I know what I'm talking about.

1) You can't, they will sell a game made with this. and package the mod with it.

2) No, since EFX mod is also a source mod, which requires you to replace the .exe file.

1) You are absolutely correct. However, Lemur is not currently being sold, so no need to worry. But you are right, the license does state:

Quote: "You CANNOT make a 'game engine' for the purpose of selling it as an engine"

2) No, it is not compatible with EFX and most likely never will be. Urlforce was planning on releasing Lemur, but I highly doubt it will continue, let alone be supported or have bugs fixed, etc

@darimc:

Where on the site does it say that? (Can I get a link?)
I would like to see how it is worded just to be sure.

You cannot sell a mod on its own as the source code is free and therefore the mod has to be has well.
However...if the mod comes with a game that you sell (hence you buy the game and not the mod.The mod being an extra incentive to purchase) then you can sell the mod as part of the package.

It actually does say that you can sell the mod. On the faq, under the future of fpsc, question two. "You can modify and recompile the game engine source code as you wish. You may sell any changes you make." See, I don't just make this stuff up.

That's interesting because it's directly contradicting other things that the site says:

Quote: "and that is you cannot use it to create another "Game Making" type of application"

To me, "Gaem Making Application" could be taken as an engine designed to work with their Editor.

Also, inside the source itself, there is this:

Quote: "rem Used Under Public License:
rem 1. You CANNOT make 'game creation' or 'level editor' software with this code
rem 2. You CANNOT make a 'game engine' for the purpose of selling it as an engine
rem 3. You CAN make a GAME with this source code for the purpose of selling it"

Note number 2 especially.

I'll email Lee and ask him about it, because I'd rather not start something by trying to sell it when they didn't mean to allow you to do that.

Well you do need FPSC to get a mod working, right? Without the map editor and files... Well I think it's safe to say you'd at LEAST need the map-editor as well. Plus the base files (not stock media, markers and stuff).

I think you might be able to make your own Editor, especially since you have the source and you know what it needs in order to be functional.

I think they're trying to prevent you from doing that and selling it as your own, full creator package.

I've emailed Lee asking him, but haven't had a response yet.

i completely understood those rules,you cant sell the game engine itself like djmasters fps maker,but you can make your own games with that source code and sell them

@djmaster:

Yes, and hence why we're confused, because the site ALSO declares:

Quote: "You can modify and recompile the game engine source code as you wish. You may sell any changes you make"

Notice the "You may seel any changes you make"

***** UPDATE ON THE LICENSING ISSUE *****

I just got his email from Lee.

Quote: "Hi,

You can make an FPSC GAME EXE MOD and sell it for others to use as part of FPS Creator to make better games. You cannot take FPSC-Game.exe and wrap your own game maker around it and sell it as a game maker. In the first scenario you would not be selling a game maker, just promoting the use of FPS Creator with your mod. In the second scenario, you would be competing ‘against’ FPS Creator using TGC IP, which is not very nice J

Best Regards,

Lee"

So that's that. FPSC Mods are able to be sold AS A MOD OF FPSC, but you cannot go and make your own Game Creator (Editor, Engine, etc) using it's source.

Thanks for clearing all of that up, Lee.

Indeed, and it may even encourage more people to Mod the engine if they know that there's a possibility of being able to sell it. So, this could also be a good thing for everyone.
