Well its that time of year again, summer holidays, nothing to do but code.

I've been giving some thought to reviving the old goldeneye project and I wondered if I could gather a team to help me. The DarkBasic community has grown stronger since this project was first begun over a year ago, and it was probably the lack of help that lead to its abandonment. So, here's the deal: to make this work, we need modellers, coders, level makers, texture makers, and most importantly ideas! This is a chance to re-make a game that re-wrote 1sp person shooter history and make it even better. We can write in everything that was left out, the island on the damn level, the grates and lift in silo.

the code I made in this project is fairly advanced, a lot was achieved ,although it is still written in DBC (I still cant afford pro). Go to the website(http://www.enigmatekuk.com/goldeneye, take a look at the screenshots, download the demo and see where we were.

So if you want to contribute or help, post or email me ([email protected]) and lets see where we can take this!

It should all be uploaded and working by now. It is impressive, give it a go, sure it can become a hell of a lot better though.

Raven did you make that bond model? If you’re up for helping again then let me know and we'll set it going.

There are a few weapons left to make, and a lot of level design.
Id love to hear theories and ideas for the game, how to make it better, and how to fill in the gaps.

Also if anyone has some good code that would help, then add a post and get your name on the credits!

unfortunately now i can't help... to many commitments
i would suggest upgrading to DBP and using BSP instead though, would make alot of things simpler (^_^)

also we have some pretty good level designers on this site, Soyez for example

Ok I downloaded DBpro to have a play with. I started re-making the engine ground up and its really quite good to say there are no examples. Do any of you have any DBpro 1st person shooter examples I can have a look at so I can get to grips with DB pro? Any BSP stuff would be excellent, if it works out well then I think I'll have to splash out on this.
Also, what do you guys use to create BSP levels? World craft? Just wondering.

You’re kidding! That’s just the kind of input I need, ideas and stuff on how to make it better. If you haven’t made 1st person shooters then I bet you've played them, ideas are as important as code.

The GE pro version is coming along nicely. I have a goldeneye style health bar, much better than the original, so check back soon for a screenshot

Cool, looks very promising. One thing, are you going to make hand models for the guns, or move them down a bit, cos they look funny floating in mid air .

Yep, the guns will have hands as soon as someone models me some. Keep those ideas coming, maybe if you wanna email them in bullet form, Ill add them to the website in a level-by-level format.
The demo should be downloadable by now, check the site.

Its called goldneye revival cos I started the project last year and never carried it on, so im kinda reviving it again, although eveything is done from scratch so its more like goldeneye remake mk2
