Why are his eyes rectangles? No offence, but that doesn't really look much like a head. I suggest that you use a source image (lke a sketch or photo) and use it as a template. I'm not sure what program you're using, but in Milkshape you can just set the backround image of the different viewports. So you would have a picture of the top, side and front of the head. You could also make 3 plains, orient them so they are all perpendicular and texture them each with their respective image. Using images as templates, or "blueprints" really makes modelling much easier. When I first started modelling, I just thought that I could model freehand with no reference pictures or anything. But then I realized that If you use reference images, all you need to do is lay down the verticies along the contours of the image.
Another tip: Only model one half, then mirror it and fuse the seams together when you're done. This makes things a lot simpler, as you only have to model half, and you don't have to worry about always making things symmetrical. Even better is if you have some sort of tool that automatically mirrors your model in real-time.
I'll post again explaining this further. I don't have any images right now to explain this very well, so I'll make some and upload them.
