After getting some holiday leave from work I started a small project to develop for both FPSC X9 and X10.

I've got X9 and X10 working well under Vista and interchanging maps between them is quite managable.

Its early days but I've got some screenshots which give an idea how this is shaping up for both platforms. I'm going for a War theme as my Xbox 360 broke recently and I miss Call of Duty.

Here is 1 of 4 screenshots for X9 progress

This gives some indication how the demo will look with FPSC X9 and the EFX mod, adding water and bloom.

Here is an early FPSC X10 screenshot. I'm primarily developing the X9 version first to make sure that holds up well then I'll be changing things up a bit for the X10 version e.g. visuals and gameplay etc but the map will be the same.

Another FPSC X10 screenshot to demonstrate how you can get some interesting and varied looking visuals from using an existing X9 map with X10 features.

Feedback welcome. Thanks

Hmm i can't help but notice in one of your screenies, a random gun is placed on a broken bed without a mattress, i find that odd and out of place, but its your game.

Keep the good work up.
Its looking awesome.

Thanks for the comments.

Here is my latest screenshot showing the island you arrive on where the camp is located.

I've decided to make the FPSC X9 version using the EFX mod to keep it as close to the X10 version as possible.

Thanks all

I'm using a fairly highend directx10 system for both FPSC X9 and X10 although it still comes down to thoughtful level design for maintaining a high fps.

The previous picture hasn't been doctored in anyway and is just an in game test level from FPSC X9 v1.09 with EFX mod classic 1.5.

I've attached another screenshot to demonstrate. No I'm not that good with Photoshop that I could have achieved this as a fake.

LOL

I think it is beautiful.
I have a DX10 set up now and yes... I got
FPSCX10 and X9 both working.
Is the link for EFX 1.5 public or are you a
beta tester or something?

You can install FPSC X9 with Vista and directx10 hardware. The only thing you might need to do is re install the relevant directx drivers.

To integrate a mod just replace the file 'FPSC-Game.exe' file in your FPSC installation directory with the mod version. Then do the same for 'fpsc-050.ini' and 'fpsc-050.txt' located in the languagebank folder of your installation directory. For EFX mod there are also some scripts which need to be placed in the scriptbank folder.

Thanks. I'd had it installed for a while so nice to finally put it to use.

Come again !!!!!!! If your referring to the beach pic, look at the attached pic before which doesn't have the EFX GUI and splash.

You can download EFX 1.54c from the above link. Version 1.6 is due to be coming out soon which should be awesome.

Here are the EFX mod requirements.

ATi Radeon X1xxx Series, Radeon HD 2xxx Series, Radeon HD 38xx Series, Radeon HD 48xx Series
nVidia Geforce 7, 8 and 9 Series, Geforce GTX 2x0 Series
integrated chipsets not supported - also ATi Radeon 9xxx Series and older models, nVidia Geforce 5 and older models

FPS Creator v1.07 and v1.08, v1.09, v1.10, v1.11, v1.12 and newer NOT supported!
Graphics card with Shadermodel 2.0+

There's no warranty that efxMod works with unsupported or old graphic chips. The use of efxMod on machines with those hardware specifications is at one's own risk.

Hmmm.

The only real trouble I had with FPSC on my x10 system is the software didn't work with the version of directx that came with my Vista installation.

After I installed the directx drivers provided on the FPSC X10 dvd everything worked great.

I think the newer versions of FPSC X9 have reverted back to an older version of directx 9 in case that makes any difference.

Also, I have downloaded the Terrain Maker for FPSCX9 but
my computer says I need a newer version to run the program?
That is total bull. How did you get yours working?

I'm not sure. I usually sweat over technical problems like that until I stumble on the solution.

The new EFX mod 1.6 allows you to select your graphics card when downloading for best compatibility. I'd download for your graphics card, install and see if that helps.

I'm enjoying the new version, especially for the new and much improved dynamic shadows feature.

Attached screenshot shows them in action.

I took back my pc due to hardware problems and I'm
going to get a new one and put a 9600GT in it. That card
is to be on par with a 8800GT as I've seen.
