Do you think X10 will work well with the 9 series? Technically it should, but I would like to know if anyone has any experience with FPSC X10 and a 9 series card?
Thanks,

The 9600GT is a budget card that is not up to par with the 8800's. It should work pretty well though.

Well, it's certainly depends on what you mean by budget 250 bucks isn't budget to me Should I get an 8800GTS 640MB instead?

Nope, I recommend you leap to get an 8800GTS 512MB it's much faster.

I've found 9600GT's for $170, they seem to be a budget card.

Would an 8800GT 512MB be better than a 9600GT? If I get an 8800GTS, it'll be the 640MB version.

That one is slower than the 512MB version, TGC will support that card , it has all the VRAM you need, and it's faster than a 8800GT or older 8800GTSm(320MB and 640MB ones are the older ones.) A 8800GT would be faster than a 9600GT. If I needed a card right now, I'd go with a 8800GT 256MB or 512MB or a 8800GTS 512MB.

Well, I think I'm sticking with my 9600GT, the 8600 seemed to work fine, and the 9600 can only be better. Plus it has 512MB of VRAM. And there's one effect I'll never use, refraction, it looks like crap anyhow. I still hope I can keep rag-doll, shaders and dynamic shadows though.

The 9600GT will be fine for the task. Not quite an 8800, but cheap and powerful for the cash!

Nvidia Direct X10 card High performace to Mid perfomace (Stock Speeds)

1. 9800 GTX X2
2. 8800 Ultra
3. 9800 GTX
3. 8800 GTX
4. 8800 GTS 512 (G92 Core)
5. 8800 GT 512 (G92 Core)
6. 8800 GTS 640,320 (G80 Core)
7. 9600 GT
8. 8800 GS
9. 8600 GTS
10.8600 GT
11.8500 GT
12.8400 GS

The reason the 8800 GT (G92) beats the orignal 8800 GTS (G80 core) card is because or a smaller die size and a higher shader clock speed and higher ROP's

I hope this clears thing up.
