Hi guys, finished the level infiltration I was talking about, which was meant to be finished on Sunday, but was kinda busy with exams and programming. Its an outdoor level and using the World War II models from FPS Creator X10.

Here is the story as to why the map is covered in debris and destruction, which is on my homepage as well:

Story:

It is meant to be a small section of a town built on an island just off France. However as the battles of World War II reach its shores as well, an unexpected volcano that has lay dormant for over 100 years finally erupts spewing hot lava down the sides of cliffs all over the island. The Germans predicted that the huge artillery bombardment over the past few weeks from the Allies on the French shores 12 miles away, have accelerated the volcano into erupting early.

People tried to contain the flow of lava as much as they could, when the German occupying forces try to contain this disaster and help the people in a bid to survive, and save the land as its a major strategical position to fire into France with artillery with minimum risk, the Allies attack.

The top layer of lava has cooled, and the German army has given the inhabitants special boots to withstand extreme heat to walk across the encrusted tops of the hardened lava streams. The Allies have the same kind of boots which can withstand temperatures of up to 900 degrees.

thanks DJ master I could make it feel even more outdoor if I could add lots more cliffs around the whole enclosure of the level however I tried that at the start and i lost about 60 frames of animation it wasnt much however i wanted it totally smooth so it ranges the frames per second at the minute from about 258 - 400 which is perfect for me Hope you can download and play it check out my other levels if you do and I will keep the work up making more for free.

Cheers man

That's cause its not water logged and the bloom isn't turned up to 100%.

Yeah if you download and try it out you will see its definately not FPS 9 because of the frame rate there would b jittery parts to it all over. The frame rate on average stays around 320 frames per second and works pretty smoothly on my PC.

The water is on if you look through the sides of the map in the wooden fence however the bloom is at zero and refraction is at 0 as well because there is no natural light. As the water level and special FX from it are all toned down along with shadows it makes for a pretty smooth multiplayer.

Thanks crowsnest I wish they would make the other model packs available in FOS X10 they always say its coming soon that was about a year ago now I think? As I want to recreate my one player I had a great story for but the first level had a bit of slow down in it and I know FPS X10 will handle it no problem at all though.

Feel free to download it and give it a shot. Cheers guys, all feedback is welcome.

cheers aagreen gonna try and make on my next multiplayer level if its outdoor a cliff face thats more realistic as the cliff is very angular, i might try replacing the sloped segments in FPS X10 with the cliff texture to give it a bit more depth.

yeah u can make terrain easy in fps creator specially if u have fps magic which i bought for X9 but i lost the disc i copied it onto so its not on my computer anymore as i reformatted.

You could make your own terrain "walls" in X10 using posters simple make hte poster teh full size of the wall and place them standing upright in the map editor like in background or high up where player cannot reach to give it a sense of surroundings the level and more open space.

Cool, what happens if you fall in the lava though? Do you sink in and emit a Quake 2 full-out scream? I love Quake 2 If I ever get a good PC, I'll give this a shot

P.S. Misread the boots thing, thought you meant "boats". Sorry, musta watched too much of Core

hey slayer sorry man unfortunately u just walk over it lol its sort of meant to b lava that the top has cooled down and hardened and the special boots in the story part of it are to withstand extreme heat so u can walk over it.

I am thinkin of making a one player with original stock media as the game i have in fps creator 9 used all model packs but suffered slight frame rate problems i really wish they would release the rest of the model packs we already bought in X10.

As you can see the inhabitants of the island has placed planks etc to walk over the stream of lava that used to b a small stream down the side of the cliff.

I really wanted to add hurt zones on top of the lava so when uwalked on it it did hurt u but cant do that on multiplayer i am afraid

YOU CAN ACTUALLY!

Just make your map in single-player, and add markers then. They work fine in X9! But maybe X10 is different. Try it and see what you can do. If it works, find a nice scream effect Also, just so you know, the heat and poison gases even from meters away would be instantly lethal in real life

yeah slayer i tried it i remember i made a fps creator 9 level with lava and it had hurt zones but for this one it keeps on deleting the hurt zones right away like clearing all the entities not used for a new level. If i find a way i definately wanna put that in cause it makes it more beleivable.....forgot about the gas from a volcanoe yer right i shoulda chose the SAS style models with gas masks on now i think about it lol

I wanted to get Torque to make a war simulator, but it looks too daunting. Dead forums, dumps you in with no help, etc.

your right there man i had no idea where to start I am doing C++ language and just finishin the language and its a similar layout to C++ but of course different symbols mean different things and smoe new keywords so its not really the same as C++ if things are different as takes time learning new techniques and procedures function etc.

I tried the tutorials in it and it just throws u in at deep end assuming you know a little about coding and stuff. I had some trouble with files in one part and it took 11 days for someone to answer me a simple fix it was too so support is definately not good on those forums....would stick with game creators they know good customer support
