The SOTA MORPG engine is an engine that was originally built to run the Shades of the Ancients game. However, this game died a horrible dead, and I decided to make the engine available to everyone, Since it has quite a few nice features added. Which free engines such as Eclipse are missing.

These include:
-Advanced Party Menu
-Friends List
-Mail Box
-Chat Channels
-WORKING scrolling maps
-WORKING Paperdoll
-Stable engine
-A better invite system
-Tradeable currency's
-Proper Combat calculations

and some more, which I can not remember at this moment.

I understand that people do not like to pay, But I do not want to let 7 months of hard work go down the drain, or just release it without getting ANYTHING back for it. Therefor I am releasing 2 versions of the engine.

A version that includes the compiled version only, for $17.50.
And a version that includes compiled and Source, for $50.

Both will still receive updates, and will not be forgotten. I'm currently working on a manual for the engine, and a Guild System. So expect an update on it soon.

Anyway, for some more info on this, I would like to link you to Here.

Thank you for your time.

Hmm, no offence but im just asking, What makes this engine any better than Xtreme worlds, Elysium and things like that what are all completely free for it and the source most the time?

My MMORPG: http://green-man.pbwiki.com or check out the forums at http://mechtech.webmmorpg.net

Interesting point, but if you had read what I wrote, you knew I devoted my time into making it an engine which is stable, and has some more advanced features in it Online games need, that they are all missing.(Built-in Mailbox, Chat Channels, Party Screen, Friends List and such)

I knew that that question would come one day, and therefor I made some more advanced features. and I am currently working on some more, and a complete manual with mapping tutorials and some scripting ones too. Something that is missing with the others.

With most of them the whole tutorial thing is community driven, I try to package them with the engine itself.

I would be willing to pay for a simple 2d platforming engine that is synced multiplayer.

Its drag and drop, and supports a VB6 like Scripting language, for the more advanced stuff.(E.G timed Spell animations, Buffs from spells, Quests)

Doable, but not in my engine... If I could finally get Multisync to work in PlayBasic, I might give it a shot for you...(However, Since making the SOTA Manual is quite a large task, it will take some time before I can even give it a go...)

Edit:
I just got a report of what features are Broken, so if anyone wishes to see what I did not fix yet... look over Here.

No, to run the engine you do not need the source code, the 17 Dollar edition does exactly the same as the other one, and will get exactly the same Updates, the only thing it does not feature is the source code to the program.

EDIT

I'm currently compiling a new version which fixes a few issues that the user(s) have encountered. This fixes some SP(Energy for running/attacking) issues, and a character delete Issue.

This patch will be downloadable soon, after I uploaded it and have set-up some Patch Download area.

The source code is offered with the $50 package because of some users might want to add their own features into their game, or change the Interface's Positions.

Please note that there is no manual as for yet, since its quite a large engine to write about, The manual will contain Mapping Tutorials,Scripting tutorials and some more things when its finished.

Hehe, I just added Patch 1.01b. It fixes almost all known bugs, besides that the Guild System does nothing yet.(Thats actually not a bug, but a partially forgotten feature, it will be added soon though.)

Oh, and since there is no manual yet, ask me anything through e-mail or the forums when you have it. I'll explain it when you need me to.

No, it works fine without scripts. Only the very advanced stuff like timed events should be done with scripting.

You get the server program with the game engine itself. So you can host it yourself, or rent a server from someone to host it on.

Its a tool that can play .exe files in a webbrowser, it downloads them and streams the .exe through a Flash application.

Try to google it.
