I'm trying to put together a believable airlock, like on a spaceship, and I'm having a lot of trouble doing it. What I want is to have gravity off when the game officially starts, but then after a certain amount of time, have it turn on and have all the weightless objects drop to the floor.

Somewhat unrelated, I'm also trying to figure out a way to have the inner airlock door locked until after the gravity comes on, and then the player can open it.

I've read through the entire manual aready, as well as the hints and tips guide, but I feel like I'm still not getting anywhere. I've tried my hand at scripting it myself too, but that's not working too well... Anyone got any ideas, advice or suggestions on how I should aproach this whole thing?

Feedback is apreciated, thanks.

If you don't have scripting down, what's the point of the post.
It's like saying, "I'm not good at walking, but I want to be the high-wire act in the circus."

You've got to nail down the basics. Start with small simple scripts like opening doors, changing HUDs etc.

As for feedback....Give up the gravity thing. Trying to float and control several entities just isn't going to happen with this engine. For years people have been asking about it. They post that they're going to work on it, and then we never hear from them again.

Well, if every single entity is going to be floating around, then you're going to need to have every entity as dyanmic and it'll need to utilize the "appearnogravity.fpi" as their Start AI.

That should make them spawn without gravity. Unfortunately, we have yet to get a command to turn an entity's gravity back ON, so you're SOL in that department.

True if using the nogravity, but instead of that...

Why not use the freeze=1 after a moveup=x in the appear script?

Then another freeze=0 in the main ai when it's activated and eureka.

Have you tried that Conjured? I thought that freeze prevented movement, even from collisions. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having no gravity if the objects were stationary in the air?

I may be wrong about that, though.

You are probably right because i haven't tested.

But if he only wanted it suspennded a few seconds before the gravity kicks in, then it could be an interesting start.

Indeed. It would work for the objects that the player won't be able to interact with. Such as the objects on the opposite side of the "airlock". The player would only be able to get to the objects by the time gravity kicked back in.

Yeah, looking in through a window is what I was imagining, because that is the only work around I can think of.
I was thinking that maybe opening the door to access that room could activate the gravity effect.
Just a thought.
