Unfortunately, texture object does not work on soft bodies. You'll have to use a shader to assign the texture to the soft body.

Theory is when you know something, but it doesn't work. Practice is when something works, but you don't know why.
Programmers combine theory and practice: Nothing works and they don't know why.

so what if you have a multi textured object? How would you go about writing a shader for that?

From an email
Quote: " Soft Bodies cannot be textured in the traditional sense but you can apply shaders to the soft bodies (generating your own UV data within the shader)"

I`ve tried several shaders but could only get glass shader (from Dark Shader) to work (didn`t try them all). Although you can`t apply textures "in the traditional sense" you can still flag the load shader command to ignore shader defined textures, then use the texture object command utilising the stage index option.
