SPEED TEST DEMO NOW AVAILABLE

As the 'Town' level is almost complete, I present it here as a speed test. This is the full game as it stands and while the beta testers are bashing out the various issues using an open game, this speed test has been restricted to one main road:

You'll find that there will be invisible barriers you can't pass, just press escape when you've had enough.

You'll need a pretty hefty machine to get a decent frame rate. I have a E6850 dual core - 3Ghz and an 1gb 8800 GTS graphics card and I get an average of 25-30. If this demo is too slow for you then I'm afraid it won't get any quicker, sorry.

http://www.madladdesigns.co.uk/HeIsComing/game/townspeedtest.rar - 112mb

Please tell me the frame rates you are getting and what you think so far.

Enjoy.

Hey, nice screen.
I'm interested to know the segment block distance in your scene from the player to the far distant fence/building if you know. if not, all good.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Tried the demo out. Had around 19 FPS when the zombie was strolling around, when I killed him, it went up to around 25-34.
I really like the design. Went to peek around the corner of the starting point, but there were no empty leaks to the skybox to be seen. The city actually felt like a city, and not just a bunch of well-placed segments and entities. Good job!

I got 15 fps and I have 2gb ram and an 8800gt. But after I killed the enemy, I got 27 fps.

When enemies are present, the FPS drops right down, there's nothing I can really do about that so fighting enemies will be a tad slow (just think Matrix ) but there are only a handful of enemies and they only appear when needed.

After testing the level the city looks great, I was hitting around 30 fps all the time apart from when the char was walking around then I got 19fps and sometimes as low as 15fps.

This is looking like it be a great game.

I've updated the "he is coming..." website with the new town, it even has some screenshots you've never seen before.

I reckon so.

Nickydude, if it is going to be free, would you make it a .zip? My PC doesn't like .rar's.
