I've got a little problem. How do I get the doors to punch through your walls? They don't work right.

The way I do things is use the room segments as airlock like sections dividing the rooms.

There are room segments?

Or is it that I can't use your walls as rooms?

I'm not following...

The wall segments are one sided, while the room segments are two sided and are twice the thickness. You can use the texture set to create room segments for yourself ( There's a lot of 'em) I released it that way to keep the download size fairly small compared to what it would have been. Use Firma. Place your doors into the wall of a room segment and it works fine.

Juzi: Models' done, working on textures. Sorry it's taking so long. I'm working hard on part 2 of the "Mega Sci-fi collection". So I'm kind of bouncing back and forth.

For those interested:

Progress so far:

27 of 100 entities complete.
83 of 100 new textures complete.
25 of 30 new segments complete.
0 of 25 new animated decals complete.

Pack includes new vehicles, New enemy characters, Buildings, and more. I'll post some screens when I get a bit further along.

Thanks everyone, My love to you all.

Probably, and thanks CG.

And once the sci-fi pack is finished, I'd like to move on to something different, But don't have a clue what. Maybe I'll make a poll, and let folks vote as to what my next project wil be. Most votes on a genre wins. Somthing like that. well see.

Does it really matter, with a pack this size and with the GREAT generousity of CP?

Everything looks amazing, CP. If only I wasn't so busy I might be able to learn to model properly.

Oh well, back to work.

I believe the license said you can use for commercial, but don't quote me on that.

He also encouraged people to take it apart and figure out how he did some of the stuff, which is just what I've been doing...

Can't wait for vol 2 CP!

rakker126: The only difference with the doors is the textures. It's still the original sci-fi door-c. You just cant use it with the included wall segments. you need to make full room segments for the doors to function properly. I.E. the textures included with the pack. Use firma, and choose the WW2 Chateau Study Room as your base and apply my textures. Make your room, insert the door, and it work fine.

Crusader2: Use 'em any way you want, and I "never" charge for my work.

POK: It's in the works.

Fernandok: Yeah, it's great. I love the new IMac. It just took me awhile to get used to running windows on a Mac. But I'm getting the hang of it.

Just have to say that this pack is huge, outstanding, and worth just as much (if not more) than some of the model packs being sold out here. I still cannot believe this was free.

CP, you are my saviour. My own personal jesus christ. The santa claus of my soul. And so on.

Thank you for making these available!

Listen, all of this is AMAZING, as everyone else has stated but...

I can't openm RAR files... Is there some other way of getting these, or am I going to have to download a RAR opening file?

Thanks Temp.

I'm also curious, do I have to download the textures for the segments and everything, or are they just there?

Hi

CosmicProphet

I think this pack is great work!

But I have a problem: All segments (walls / floors) and a few entitys (generator and so on) don't have any textures. But there are textures on ,for example, the aliens or the vehicles.
I don't know to solve the problem, maybe you can help me with that. (Maybe the problem exist, because I am using the german version of FPSC?)

Btw: I'm sorry for my bad english, but I am from germany :=)

It's me again.

I've solved the problem with the entitys by putting it in another folder, but the segment textures are still not working. Where do I have to put them in?

Sorry, I can't find the edit button in this forum.

great work, thank you !
i like the decals for monitors and such most.

but i have 3 problems:

a) i can't use any doors with any of the segments
b) all "segments" are just single walls, not like the original ones with floor, innerwall/outerwall (ok, this is not really a problem, but i don't know if this is right)
c) everytime i try to use the open floor, fpsc crashes

somebody else with these probs?

[edit] oops sorry, most of the questions are already answered.
but the open floor crashes still [/edit]

Kutte128: I'm glad you got everything working. The texture set can be used to make your own segments for the pack.

I have decided to make all the segments for the next pack so those who don't yet know how, or don't want to make them themselves can use them all properly with no hassels.

As far as the open floor goes, there are 2 versions in the pack. A segment, and an entity. I've found that the entity works better. Leave 1 unit of floor empty where you want it, and then place the entity, right click on it, then use the arrow keys to move it into position. I've noticed that with some segments, if they are not installed properly (the textures for example) the editor hunts for them, and if it cant find them, it crashes.

I use firma to make most of my wall segs, it helps to have it installed so the directory structure is the same. If you dont have it already, get it free here...

http://www.freewebs.com/darkfoil/firmasegmenteditor.htm

Thanks to everyone for trying out, and using this pack. I hope to release Part 2 by, or around Christmas this year. Maybe sooner. I've got several projects in the works right now, and it depends on how much I can get finished by then.

Thanks, and all my love to everyone. TCP

this is absolutely incredible. it is incredible that you create such professional quality work and give it away completely free. you are indeed a true inspiration.

that being said, i can't seem to get any of the links provided in the original post to work. have the files been taken down?

Hi Cosmic. Must be a good feeling getting comments like the above. You are helping a lot of people get started on fpsc.

shivendra. I think there is a site called fpscfree which might be able to help. There are a few freebies in the store last time I looked. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone, I should have updated this post a while ago. TZap is correct. All the media from this part of the Sci-Fi collection are now compiled into the new Part 2 of the Pack. There will be 4 in total.

The second part sets up all the directories needed for me to complete the next 2 parts. So Please grab the sci-fi part 2 instead of this one.

It's twice the size, but has a lot more to play with.

And for those who have not been there already, check out my website for even more totally "free" Model Packs.

Thanks to you all!
