Try Wait key at the end of your program. This will allow you to actually see what you've printed. Don't worry, common mistake.

Kanzure is right. When I was 8 I was making games in QBasic and if I had dark basic at the time I think I could have used it (and i did more complex things than the code you posted). Of course I wouldn't have made the things I can make today but this language is really very simple. Stop a second and think about C++ or Assembler... :-s

I need an animator!!! HELP ME!!

Eh, I'm only 13, and I started programming Dark Basic in January, but, yeah 8 seems a little young.

At first glance, I'm a mediocre mech pilot. Look again and you will see my battlemech's computer code rushing through my eyes. My Mech And I Are One!

It don't realy mater how old you are, just how you think about the problem. I started when i was 11 and remade space invaders in Qbasic.

The problem is every one is trying to make complicated games, and they go wrong, when i started with DB, i went strait into making a 3D space simulator and failed misrably, start small and work up from the bottom.

We're all just a figment of somebodys imagination

yeah but i bet some of you guys learned in school and if you have someone showing you how it's done then it is easy but if your teaching your self that's where you get the problems.

<<<started C at 8, and started basic at about 6, don't seem hard to me, but then again, my old man used to program professionally for some company that make weird apps(can't remember exactly)
but if you have the right teacher its easy as pie (3.141592654...)

I aint the smartest guy either.I think that DarkBasic
is pretty simple to learn,since I wrote a 3D Walkable,shootable,fps
engine on my first day.I started programing in QuickBasic when I was 9 yrs old,I then moved to C,to C++,Then Assembly(Tedious),then I quit being a DOS kiddy, and move to Windows/Linux Programing.
I now use DarkBasic,Visual Basic,and Delphi.
If you want speed dont use quickbasic..
I still use QuickBasic for testing ground of new ideas,ect...

I beg to Differ,
I taught my self everything I know, including those outside of programming. I think teaching yourself by getting books,a little bit of elbow grease, and alot of trial and error is the best way to learn. Teachers can only teach you what they've learned. not what they've learned, err, what i'm trying to say is that the best way to learn is to do it yourself. You may learn faster with a teacher, but then you'll always be needing someone around...
