Hmmm, I tend to hold it high up. Higher than graphics, but just by about 1 point. Around 6 perhaps? Yes 6, 6 will do just fine.

What is this for anyway?

Depends on the game.
If it's just something small to pass time, it could as well be silent so that you could have the radio on in the background or something, but for a large game with a lot of story to it, I would say that, while mayhap not a requirement, it most definately strenghtens the experience enormously (if it is good music, that is ).
So, maybe 7 or 8 on the whole thing.
A completed "real" game must have some music in my opinion though.

i say 10.....

your game could totaly blow and the music will lift it to a point where you might stay playing it cause it sounds cool.

i say 10 for sure!!

music is another piece of the puzzle that i important. I still remember the donkey kong country soundtrack and that was 12 years ago. I think music can make a great game Legendary. People still listen to music from final fantasy. So i give it an 8
