i cant figure out why i cant get bones to work in milkshape. the tutorial sais select the vertice then select the joint and then click asign i do that but when i move the joint in anim mode the vertices dont follow it. wtf??

You don't select the joint.

Select the vertices, then go to the Joints panel, highlight the joint (in the box, not on the model), then click assign.

1st make the 3d object... duh
2nd make you're joints
3rd assign you're vertex's to the joints
4th click on the animation button and select a joint
5th make a keyframe at the start of the animation
6th rotate, scale, or do whatever
7th make another keyframe

Milkshape should fill in the frames as long as you only do one thing between keyframes.

I have been having problems with Milkshape forgetting my joint vertex assignments after I save and load. It's only remembering the assignments that have animation. Also be sure to assign all vertex's to joints or you're model will be messed up when you export it to an X file.
