During the treacherous battles and the crumbling of two powerful nations. A group of freelance mercenaries form a team known as the Hunters to fight for both sides of the war between USA and Russia. An oath was made that no matter which side they worked for, none of them would ever harm a fellow mercenary, this oath was broken. The destruction of a Russian weapons research lab by a mercenary working for the Americans while another hunter was still inside was the cause. After that the hunters parted, taking sides and causing a war of their own. The two sides were know as "The Council of Fate" and "Death Dealers". You work for The Council. Your mission is to infiltrate a Russian missile plant in a Russian occupied middle eastern country and walk away with $43,000,000. Taking out any Dealers is a bonus. Get ready for the Fall of Nations.

Some more screens.

This game will be full length and have lots of custom media (see the gun). Please give comments and crits. The screen is not a real part of the game.

Quite a few times, I have heard this.

Looks nice, darimc, but the gun bothers me, even if it's supposed to be weird.

EDIT: Looks like you beat my record! Over 10 games. Not being mean, just thinking that I'm lucky to have a competitor. Kola v2 will be finished, however.

He did not beat your record because he's at least finished something before. You are and will probably always be the record holder.

Anyways, screenshot looks good.

Ok.

Actually, I have finished a few games, 4 to be exact.

Thanks.

@Robert, it is still an example.

I will try to start working on the real level design, then do a make-over of the levels once the models are finished. I will be making a machine gun, a sniper and a shotgun, so there will be more guns. The reason the guns look like that is because this is based in the future but is not actual scifi.

Reminds me of Fall of the Fireflies. Some more screens of actual level design would be nice

Looks and sounds pretty good. Are you going to get an australian called India Dupre to come and do voiceovers.

You need a nuclear strike! If you can do that I will buy you a drink. And then post it to you.

Sorry but the pic is bland, and there is nothing here to showcase. Was the required demo for a showcase thread removed?

Best.

Thanks, that's the inspiration.

Thanks for your opinion. There will be progress soon. And I see a lot of showcases without demos, why did you chose to say that on this one?

Quote: "The gun and hand are really screwed up man. I am not trying to be mean, but they are. "
I already explained the gun and the hand is butters free one, so talk to him if you really want.

EDIT: I thought people would like this and the story line. Guess not, instead of being congratulated for trying to make a game full of custom media, I was criticized. Oh well, I will just have to improve.

Ok, here are some shots from the real first level. You will start in a small middle eastern village and enter a building which will have an underground link to where you need to get to. Hopefully you like these better than the test shot.

Looks okay, but add some of those grass segments in ww2/platforms. Also, why a gun store?

Why would I add grass? It is located in desert location. And a gun store because it is a country that was run by war lords.

Hey, it's very flattering to have someone inspired by FOTF. Thanks.
I don't think I made that gun though did I? I might've done the hand, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, I haven't been around in a while, so I don't know if you have lots of unfinished projects or not, but you should finish this one.

Thanks, yeah I've always loved FOTF. Yeah, I modeled the gun and downloaded a hand that you released a while ago. Any suggestions from the guy who actually developed FOTF?

Hmm, so the most stand out piece of your game needs to be the environment. I mean gameplay is important, but you can't show anyone that in screenshots, so... if you want people to say better stuff on here, then you need to start WOWing them.

The village level is coming on, but it doesn't look like a village.

Get away from using FPSC segments for making anything other than interiors. If you use them to make little houses, or gunshops they just look too boxy, and obviously segmented.

FPSC suits an indoor environment, I had trouble with all the outdoor levels I made. Stick to indoor, or very tight external spots. FPSC doesn't have the polycount or the framerate to you to amaze the viewer with a panoramic view. If you can get convincing hills, or a city scape, without it just being a skybox I'll fall off my chair.

So you cant really do outdoors, so, the only real option you have is atmosphere, you need to build tension into your game. have some nicely architectured areas that keep people interested. Try not to let them be too aware that all they're really doing is walking through square corridoors!

Drop the custom guns. Basically Errant and Bond and Benge are really good at what they do. Their modelling is gorgeous and will add to your game. Making your own weapons is a tireless task and it will take you years to reach their level.

Maybe look at the story a little. Americans versus Russians is so old hat. In FOTF you played a Russian in Korea, because I was fed up of games where you fought against the russians. Why not play as someone other than America. America is so boring, when the character could be from a different culture...

Anyway I've ranted on when I should be getting some beauty sleep. I probably made no sense at all.
Hope that Helps.

He could posibly play as a German soldier and I could do voice-overs. I do a convincing German accent & can speak a bit.

If that's what you want, e-mail me, darimc.

The buildings look a bit short from the outside, try adding another level to them (even just for looks from the outside) so that the door doesn't look like it's touching the ceiling.

Loving the custom media idea, but the gun looks pretty, well, let's just say not many of us would mind you using a pre-made gun.

Temporarly away from the Phoenix Sentry.

Thanks guys, especially butter fingers, this is what I was looking for. So I guess the custom gun idea is a no-go but I will rig some default weapons to the mp9\10 hands. I need to tweak the story, but I did want it to be two big nations... I'll find a work-around. And last but not least, I guess I will scrap the outdoor level and go for indoors, but I will add a small outdoor section to some of the levels so you can believe that you are actually playing in the middle east. Thanks guys, I will start working.

I'd say your outdoor screens look too much like indoor screens with the roof removed. This is mainly because you are only using one level of segment (And they are all the same segment). I'd also imagine you'd be able to see buildings in the distance. Looks ok though.

Okay guys, one final vote. Use my custom guns or use mp9\10 guns? It's up to you.

Try swapping it with a single hand gun from MP9/10, see what that looks like to people.

I mean people might like a pistol type rather than a two-handed machine gun. So it's like a cross between the two.

Well I will be using the mp9\10 weapons for know but might make my own soon. I need some ideas for level design. Something for a middle eastern war-torn building.

To be honest the mp9/10 weapons doesnt fit in, your "crappy" gun in your first post actually looks better
And in your last post with pics, pic #1 it looks weird with a bluecrystal clear sky outside, and a yeallow dunkle ligth inside.
If you get what I mean

Good luck!

Hey darmic, about the gun, i like the pistol, just keep playing with it and use reference images, and rig some better hands to it.

Otherwise I like the environment, looks pretty good. And along with ButterFingers, the story is kind of overused, you should change it around a bit.

@TeamASP, If you read this, can you help me? I really need a game menu. The game is a near future middle eastern shooter. So, make it look however you want. I would be truly grateful if you could do this.
