hi again. just like to know if anyone knows how to make models move like us (knee, elbow joints etc). I dont know how to do it. I don't get the object pivot and the add limb and other limb commands AT ALL. I'm really stuck with this. I use DoGA L3 to make my models, but I'm stuck on actually making them animate.
Anyone have any ideas/codes/programs please?

Well ,you have to make an animation in a 3d modeler, that's for sure. Offcourse some modelers don't have the possibility to animate but I'm sure you can find some. Then you can just play the animation in DB and set the settings for it.

Doga is a CGI kit, or so I found out you can export .x but not animate it . I started to use milkshape. Its easy and its cheap. You can use GMAX its like 3DS max but you can only export in .MD3. Both GMAX and Milkshape have the ability to animate.

The only thing is its not as easy as DOGA. DOGA reminded me of Lego
There is a bit more work to be done in the other modeler's.

PS what the hell is " " ment to represent ?

I have heard of it, and i have used Truespace 5, but in my opinion Milkshape 3D is the best available.

Its not free but it is cheap, 20$, you could use anim8or its free, and i believe it uses a plugin to let you use the animations in DB...but i am not sure how that is done...

I've used that anim8or before. A program aint no use to me if its got no help files or examples for me to learn with.

I like the layout of Milkshape 3D. Seems like DoGA to me

I'l use this until 31 day trials gone

but if you do splurge and actually pay for software, definitely get milkshape. it's all you need if you are using DBC.

3D Canvas (I have the free version) is a great modeler, and uses key-point animation, so you don't have to worry about every frame if you don't want to, plus that means you can animate in real time. Also, especially for character animation, it supports inverse kinematics, which automatically moves parent bones(limbs) realistically. 3DC has tutorials on their site.

I got TrueSpace, DoGA, Milkshape (I registered it), Cartography Shop Demo (dont't run too well). All of theme are good, but not very.....easy to me. I need sum1 to show me or do a few examples or summat. PC is DEFINATELY NOT good.

imho, milkshape is as stong as you need for DBC. just pound away and read the tutorials that came with it... soon it will all fit together nicely.

heres wat i do:

i make the model of a bloke in DoGA L3 and export as '.x' format
i load it into milkshape ... easy
i set the 'bone' bits/joints and all works well.
i set the vertex's for the objects joints and apply them correctly
i go to animate mode and make a lil animation using keyframes
then i export as a DirectX model in .X format
next i load DarkBASIC and load the object... Dark Basic closes

thats what happens... any ideas?

Dark Basic Classic does not support Mesh Deformation.
You have to export the animation as md2 or md3, which DBC can not load.

You have to move the limbs until you get the desired effect.
Then export to .X and load it into DB.
