Fps Creator...

Looks really promising, the atmosphere, and the overall look is unique for an Fpsc-Game.

Keep up your ace Work, dude!

Thankyou for the further kind comments.

I must appologise for the lack of updates, it's a pretty busy time to right now due to real-world priorities, but progress is still being made.

No significant news yet, I've got some nice custom scenes made and I'm putting together a briefly worded storyline to share with you.

Until then, enjoy a new screen

Wow! this game looks awesome!

and forgive me if this is a nooby question...

[WARNING NOOBY QUESTION]

is the fog made in build game?
i'm pretty sure it's next to ambience in the global script, but when i tried changing it nothing happened... humn... i'll look at it...

When everyone tells you to stop wasting time, just tell them, "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time".

Unless you're on facebook, there is no excuse for that. (burn the heretic)

I must apologise for the lack of updates It is a week to go until my birthday, and I got a new laptop in advance, so I've been busy porting all my FPSC stuff over.

Firstly, to answer your posts:
Thanks for all the kind words again. BOTB is a kind suggestion, but lets not count chickens. I'm sorry this post slipped down a bit, but I'm more a do-it-then-post-it person, so I restrain from posting until I can show you something a bit nifty

Shadowfire, the fog and ambience in this level is controlled via scripts, so should i need to I can change them dynamically in the level. Have a look in the manual for the commands to do this

Secondly, I figured you might all be a bit thirsty...

Pictures of the unusual enemies coming soon. It'll probably be hit and miss whether you like them or not, but I'm attempting something thats more artistic than realistic.

Wow, this is just awesome. You've created such an intriguing and creepy ambience, and I can only imagine how the "unusual enemies" will compliment it. Looking forward to seeing them.

Perhaps the creators had something special in mind...build the room around the person, throw in a window on their way out and watch

the ambience is great, but I think it's too dark. What's the point of modeling and texturing if it won't be seen. Unless you are planning to have a flashlight

I personally think the lighting is just about perfect. I wouldn't make it any brighter or darker. It's light enough that you can still see some of the detail in the shadows but dark enough that it provides the right atmosphere.

Thankyou for the kind comments. Once again, I didn't want to reply just to bump the thread without showing something new

Halfpastundead, your monitor must have a different setup. Lifeless is one of the lightest FPSC horror games I've come across, a deliberate choice because of the enemy style. I have no plans to lighten it

Right, onto some other news; I've finished a key story scene and produced a new skybox, aswell as several new entities. All is going swimmingly, just a little slow due to some real life stuff.

Now for some screens:

And again...

For anyone that followed the original thread back in the day, you may recognise this staircase, it is the one part of the entire level that hasn't been completely redone throughout development. The entire level has grown around this part

Very nice work, I think there were a couple of shots that were really dark, but the last couple have the perfect amount of light. I really dig your level design. A few questions,

1. Do you use custom segments? What is the easiest way to do that if so? (as far as getting the right size in the modeling program)

2. How do you get those amazing shadows? And do they eat up a lot of Frames per second?

I would like some pointers on my game from you.

Very atmospheric, look a bit like Eldora: The Golden Land. Very nice design as well, excellent lighting, just make sure the player would be able to find their way through it!

Thanks for the positive feedback and compliments!

Halfpastundead:
All the media in the game is either by me or TGC. Custom segments are made in Anim8or (100 length = 1 segment in FPSC), and imported either by hand or with signs.

The shadows are all down to the light placement. Funnily enough, all my screens so far have actually been "quick" lightmapped, so it's nice that you all seem to like them! The shadows and lighting do not affect the FPS at all, they just increase build time, as more complicated lightmaps have to be generated. This build time increase doesn't affect finished games either, as they simply have to load the already-generated lightmaps

I will take a look at your game and post any critique on your thread.

Thanks all,
Paul

Well,

These Screens are absolutely Amazing and Ahmospheric in the first place. I also appreciate your useage of entities. The few, the proud!
Its also appreciable that you try to get this game runable on weaker machines.

Well, the most import thing in these screenshots is clearly the lightmapping. Maybe you`ve seen a few screens from me around, I tend to use warm colors. Youre useage of Cold, bleach colors lets me shiver in a good way. These Shots look abandoned and creepy as hell.

Nice to see that there are more people working on an Horrorgame without secret labs, Zombies, Special Forces with annoying abbreviations and all the other hot n`filthy B-Movie stuff.

Keep up the faboulus work and excuse my sorry english

Thankyou for the compliments and the bump, Wolf.

The lightmapping style is something I've been working on for a long time. The game takes place in an extremely cold environment, and whilst the building is still retaining warmth and preventing everything from becoming completely iced over, I've tried to use the cold colours to show the location and atmosphere.

I'm glad you appreciate my objectives with the game. I'm much more a fan of subtle horror and disturbing plots, than
Quote: "secret labs, Zombies, Special Forces with annoying abbreviations and all the other hot n`filthy B-Movie stuff."
A most excellent description, I must say! Nice to see we're on the same wavelength

The game is still heavily in production, but I'm taking some time to develop it away from these forums. Lets just say I have come to question certain ethics in this community. I'm still popping in to check out some of the more interesting games (including yours, Wolf ), and posts a little bit of help here and there, but it may be a while before I feel compelled enough to show more of Lifeless here.

In the mean time, enjoy the screenshots already posted, and feel free to comment on any of them further. If anyone needs to contact me further, my email/MSN address is featured on all of the screenshots.

Thanks,
Paul

I second that too.

I think some people think horror, is just zombies popping up. Or sounds of screaming people. And blood.

I personnaly think Horror is much more then that. You have horror like Saw or Resident Evil or other Popping Up Zombie movies/games.
And you have those cold nice scary but with a spicy sweetscaryness games/movies. Or those Physical horror movies/games. Those are the most convinceble games/movies.

Example: Lifeless Come, Lifeless...

Nice to see a bump here. So i can say this is still amazing.

@Paul: I am back from Paris. I will be on soon.
