I've been looking around for a better IDE, something easy on the eye and good for a newbie. I tried CodeKeeper but it kept giving me error boxes, and when I try for TDK's IDE the download isn't there. Can anyone post some links to some good IDE's?

(I realize this must be a very newbie question, my bad.)

I like Dark Edit, it's nice-looking (and it's windowed! yes!)

I used Dark Edit all of the time. I've customized it so that the background is all black (it's easier on my eyes than white). It also has useful ways to locate labels and functions, so it's a very god program.

I only ever use the actual DarkBASIC interface when I run any of the example programs...even then I'll sometimes copy>paste the code into Dark Edit.

@FOXGEAR

Check out this thread:

And just in case you weren't aware, at the bottom of the page you can use the search options to help find possible answers to questions you may have that others may have had before you.

Oh yeah, and for Code Keeper, you need to have Common Controls for VB6 installed.

Enjoy your day.

I have common controls installed, but it still gave me errors.
Can anyone give me a link to the TDK IDE? It sounded cool.
(Like I said, i tried but it gave me a 404 error)

TDK hasn't been around for a while. Last he wrote, he said he was swamped with a new job... That's too bad about code keeper. It's a pretty nice IDE. What errors are you getting?

And are you having trouble with DarkEDIT?

Enjoy your day.

It just seems kind of...weird to me. Maybe it's all of the purple. Plus the fact that the close, minimize, and maximize buttons don't line up with the ACTUAL buttons. When using the DB Pro trial, I was using CodeSurge, and I really liked that.
When I try to use CodeKeeper, I get this error.

Component 'AXCOLCTL.OCX' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

If someone could help on that it would be great.
