ok is it bad or people just dont comment?

HELP: Ok i have search for this but nothing really does the trick. I want so when you walk up to the door theres a trigger zone there so when you enter the trigger zone i want it to desplay a messege giving you a hint to where the key is.

I already have a image saved as .png. So can you tell me what folder to put it in and help me with what to do with the trigger zone so it desplays the messege.

This is really making me mad ive tried alot of things and nothings working

thats pretty good...

add a few objects and trash and maybe increase your light map quality
and that should do good

I used quick lightmapping the Full lightmapping stops at waiting for threads to finish so i just use quick lightmapping I WILL use full lightmapping in the full game and demo

1st level

First room was OK, although I suggest you put some walls outside the window because your grass just ends suddenly and drops away.

I wasn't keen on this level to be honest, it really confused me. I was attacked by the first zombie on the landing. There was no way past him and you had no weapons, so you HAD to take damage. He also appeared directly infront of me out of nowhere. I finally got a shotgun and killed the zombies. You should pull your trigger zones back a bit because I could see every single one spawning.

I Liked the little section outdoors and was disappointed that you never got to wander around more. There was also nothing suggesting the way to go. I picked up a key from outside and wandered around trying to find a door to unlock until I realised you just had to go up to the STATIC door which was shrouded in darkness. Not good level design.

2nd level

Wasn't bad overall. Found a little error where you could go through a door into a building you weren't supposed to but other than that I didn't find much wrong with it.

3rd level

Level 3 was shocking easy. There was 1 enemy to fight and that was it. Your corridor zombie was decent, except that you could see it falling everytime it died. Looked funny, wasn't really scary. It also completely vanished in the room with the keys.

Overall


It wasn't bad. However, it suffered from the same things many other FPSC games suffer from. I got alot of lag when enemies were spawned and there were too many. The amount of enemies you had to fight through killed the whole fear factor and also lowered performance. The levels themselves weren't that great, but only because they lacked little things which add up to make the experience more enjoyable:

Firstly, too many enemies and lag annoyed me. I have a good PC but even I was feeling the strain.

I also never found any other weapons and so ran out of ammo and just had to run around which was boring. Make them easier to find or prove the user with clues to where items are hidden. A melee weapon shouldn't be hidden and should be given almost immediately.

You also had alot of dynamic entities scattered about which had no use. Those would be lowering the frame rate.

Remove the ambient noises from the decals because you can hear them all over the levels and they clash horribly.

Give the player some incentive of where to go. Perhaps increase the size of level one aswell. I could finish it in 20 seconds flat now that I know where to go.

Thanks butt monkey for the suggestions the only reason why i didnt have a melee weapon is because i didnt want to combine model packs because of the gloves and stuff. I used to have a melee weapons. I will try to make the 1st level larger i dont really know how im going to do this but ill figure somthing out.


Ill have an updated demo released when im finished with the changes.

And butt monkey i was trying to figure out how to have a text trigger i have the script for the offical Game creators guide the thing nicky dude made.

I was trying to figure it out 4ever i have a .png image i even tried it in .TGA nothing so if you know how to make it work that would be great.

Hey, I downloaded the demo...but there wasn't a door getting out of the bedroom the player spawns in O_o There was no way out. Am I missing something?

This demo is pretty out of date ive done a lot of work on these levels. So dont make a judge the game from the demo

I wasn't. I didn't have a chance to look at any of your level design outside the first bedroom. Please test your download links. The one you just reposted is the same as before. The game starts the player off in a bedroom with no door to get out. Maybe I'm overlooking something?

This is my third and final time trying the download, and all three you posted were the same. I've attached a screenshot of the room the player spawns in. Notice there is no door for the player to leave.

You have to add a door somewhere in this room, otherwise no one that tries your demo will be able to see the rest of your game.

Go to File->Preferences and check the shaders box. Then right click on the lights in the editor and go down to where it says "effect". Click the browse button and use the illumination shader to make the light look lit up.

It seems to me that you are mostly using white light, try using using a dark brown\orange colour for some of the lights. Also, there is too many areas that everything is pitch black. Other than that it looks great.

alright guys this project is on hold well kinda i have entered into the ultimate FPSC compition but the levels that i make for that will/might(bits and pieces) be used in this game so i will be making a thread of my work on the entry there so check it out.
