Hi iam using 3d studio max 4.2! i quite good in it, and so i tried to make some nice object, but everytime when i load them the screen tunrs and stays black and then after some seconds iam kicked back into windows?!?!! nothing happens. but normal darkbasic loads everything without any problems! What iam doing wrong? i tried a lot but nothing works. only when i load a *.3ds object the programm crashes immediatly!


Plz help me and dont know what to do!

there's nothing about a special code simply that:

cls
set display mode 1024,768,32
load object "xxx,3ds",1

do

loop


Simply like that, and its not working, but normal Darkbasic is doing it great!

Thx for that, but its still not working.
You know, normally when you load a simple cube for example (make cube ...) the background turns blue and u can see the cube, but when i load the 3ds object the screen stays dark, and also when i load a cube directly behind it nothing happens, the screen is black adn after some seconds, back in windows again. but whe i rem the comman (rem load object "xxx.3ds",1) the program starts working, u can see the cube and move and stuff like that. but the 3ds object kills everthing!

but not only this 3ds object all 3ds objects do that instead of a simple cube or a simple ball! i tried using normal box modelling, or nurbs or splines nothing works ((

try it with out the clear screen... i did not see that over my first lookiover(i'm blind what can i say)

still nothing happens! sorry! *.x object are also working wonderfull, but not the *.3ds ones. is it a bug or am i an idiot??!!

I found a bug in DBP a while ago that caused a crash. Try saving your files as 3ds, converting them to something else by using 3dexplorer or some other 3rd party program, and then converting them back again. I noticed that sometimes 3dsMAX generates some "non-DBP-friendly" poly's when u save your mesh. But yea, just try saving it and converting it to another format, then back again.

Make sure your models are fully UV mapped. If any limb is without UV Mapping it will either fail to display or crassh DB

Download the Direct X 8.1 SDK, it contains an X exporter for MAX which should solve all of your problems. You can also find it at www.maxplugins.de without the rest of the sdk.

i downloaded the panda *.X plugin for 3dsmax and its wonderfull, but the animations wont work! what do i wrong?

tried it with set object frame and with play object 1,1,13

Keep looking for the DirectX SDK plugin (further down the list at www.maxplugins.de) it's the only one I've found that will export animation.
