below is the code. i am trying to load darkbasic in windows, instead of a different screen mode, however, the windowmode=1 does not work. it has not load darkbasic inside of windows, but instead, makes a window inside of the screen mode. any ideas?

Are you talking about loading the darkbasic editor in windowed mode? If that is the case, use DarkEdit. It is much nicer looking, easier to use and has other advantages. It comes with darkbasic, if you just look for a darkedit folder inside the darkbasic one. Otherwise I think you can download it somewhere, use google.
