Ok, I have this model, that is almost complete, but one thing the models lacks at this time, are functioning eyes & eyelids.

Have any of you seen half life, where the eyes open & close from time to time, how would I acheive an effect like this for my model?

I have the whole model, except for the eyes, & one last thing I was wanting to know about, ill ask it now...

I know 3d studio max can allow for alpha maps so it can make a simulation of hair or fur, can this kind of effect be made in MilkShape 3d?

I am making my models in milkshape 3d, but I would like to add fur to the models, can someone explain how & if you can do this with MS3D?

Thx,

For fur and hair, you can just use plains or polygons. For example, if I wanted to make spiky hair, I'd make lots of polygons and stick them onto the head, then texture them with spiky hair. DBPro supports alpha maps, so it would look fine.

Really you can model hair how you like, just bear in mind animation, because there's nothing worse than static hair. For long hair you could make a mesh, with say 16 polygons and animate it flowing gently when the character runs, maybe even use a couple of meshes to get it nice and thick.

Ohh, for eyes, I suggest just having a blinking face texture and switch between them (very easy method), or:

If you have your eyes as seperate limbs, like disconnected from the head mesh, then texture the eyes carefully, you could scroll the eyes texture to a blink then back again. Sorta like a dolly, the eyes are actually attached to the eyelids. You could even model the eye and eyelid and rotate the limb down for a blink.

A shader, wouldn't that be HW specific and CPU killing?

If I've seen it all before, why's this bus taking me back again? @_@

Wow, then I cant use shaders, as I am still using a GeForce 2. From what I have noticed, in MS3D, its hard to make a plane, is it easy to make in MS3D?

Or is there a button that I am simply overlooking because its right in front of my face?

shaders would work just fine with GF3 and up
As for ATI...i wouldn't try it on anything but a 9000 series card.
On a side note: DBP blowz when it comes to shaders...wait for the next patch...its 'supposed' to be fixed...
