Can someone tell me where the poly reduction tool is in max 5, i have used optimize and it shaved a few polys off but still a little high!

its called multires, in the modify menu click on customise buttons, search through the list of modifiers and enable multires to be used in the modifier menu menu. Then select an object and click multires, click on the generate button and set the vertex percentage to a value. I dont recommend on using it alot though cos it can screw up the mesh sometimes

the only other modifier to use is multires

though the best way is to just do is manually.
