I'm afraid I am not very familiar with the .X file format, so bear with me...

I do all of my graphic work in 3ds max, but I want to avoid having to convert to .3DS format first, then to .X as 3DS does not support many vital features. (Namely single skin character weighted with max's Skin Modifier.) I do not have access to Character Studio either, so weighting with Physique is not an option for me. I see that there are two flavors of .X file: text and binary.

Now my question: Does Dark Basic Pro read .X files in text format or binary?

If it does read text format .X files, I could probably write a maxscript .X exporter that supports Skin Modifier weighting directly out of 3ds max, and I'll be good to go.

Thanks!
