There's the manual that came with the original box set. I love manuals.. I hate online manuals.

I got the Beginner's Guide to DarkBASIC Game Programming way back in the day when I first started. Still use it as a reference if I need to touch up on something.

Here is the Info:

Beginner's Guide to DarkBASIC Game Programming
By Jonathan S. Harbour with Joshua R. Smith.
ISBN: 1-59200-009-6

It is true that TDK's tutorials are a really good learning source, at the same time though, I would also suggest the book for its completeness (it covers every command, some better than others though).

The examples are great. Get right into them and start changing some values and see what effect it has. After some time you will understand how everything works (that's what I did for the first 2 years before I figured out there was a forum).

I learned most of the commands simply by looking through the help files on DBC, picking out a ranodm command, and trying to understand and use it

also bn2, I looked at that book and according to this site it has very little on 3d and none on advanced stuff like memblocks (not that TDK does either)

hey theres an idea, TDK should write a memblock tutorial!!

Hmmm, I don't remember having any problems. Just checked, it's 3d chapter is about 50 pages and explains the basics. It doesn't have collision though (And, more frustratingly, the SET CAMERA TO FOLLOW COMMAND - it took me a couple years of not getting it to work right to finally find a tutorial that explained it)

Yeah, that was the tutorial I found on it that finally explained it.

Just thought of this: TDK's tuts should be part of the DarkBASIC Help files

The help files are all HTML, you can add or subtract from them as much as you want (I did a little bit of it for that community functions library I was trying to put together a while back)

@ TDK

Your memblock tutorial sounds great! I'm just getting into them. Will there by any chance be any vertex manipulation or even boned animation in your tutorial?

I also got that book, but I think I would have been better off with TDK's tutorials.
