Interesting! Curious to see more about your reaper. Seems like a good start to me, but I don't have the experience other folks have in making models yet. :}

Since we simultaneously posted, I'll post again to comment on your texture.

Pretty cool. I like it. But it needs something... I can't put my finger on it but good job, nonetheless.

[edit] Oh jeez, I just read your location as "raped in a box...".
Might wanna add another 'p'.

mike5454@

yes but i think I'll need a weekend to do it so I'll do it next week, youtube is being really iritataing, whenever i go to upload some of the tutorial stuff it deletes it, so I've decided that I'll post it here in a .zip file.

anyway here is some more progress on the model, but it'll only change tommorrow as i am off to have a laugh watching x factor

hope you like it

and now a triple post.

heres the finished result i wasn't sure what sort of eviroment it would dwell in, well now that i say dwell i realise a cave would have worked, oh well.

heres the 'reaper' I quite like it but after all what you say counts so please leave a comment on the model.
i also made the barbed wire so if you like that then say as well

Wow! I really like your models. They have the right amount of definition that I like, personally. They're good-looking, but not so overly detailed that you can't imagine yourself with them (read Scott McCloud's books if you don't know what I'm talking about; he is the AWESOME). Anyway, if I could make models like those myself, I'd be uber-happy. We'll see what I actually manage, though.

Keep it going! I really like them all so far.

I like the full scene. You seem to be mostly painting the models, and not texturing them. Maybe try painting textures onto them.

pincho paxton@
thanks and i have been experimenting with the textures, I'm gonna start making my own for these and i agree with you, thanks.

anyway heres a new one of the first model I'd done, I'm basically doing the ones that i wasn't happy with, scene-wise but I'm now happy and I'll be moving onto a new model, tried multiple things with the other, i may keep it but I'm goona leave it for now, anyway this is meant to be a desert, i at least hope thats obvious , anyway tell me what you think

I like the veins on his arms! Nice touch! After looking at him a few times, though, I wish his colors were a little more dynamic. I'm not sure how so, though . . . Just something to make him a little more alive, methinks. Maybe it's just that he's missing eyes.

The secret of lighting is the specular effect. Light does not cover your body evenly, it touches the extremities making them shine. Like the bridge of your nose, and the tips of your arms. Your image is too even.

thanks for the comments guys

pincho paxton@
do you know how to create a specular lighting efect in z brush as i have no idea

anyway heres a new model i started work on 2 hours ago, I've gotten most of the model done just some refinements left anyway hope you like it, its meant to be a sort of goblin

also the back render and front renders were done seperately, thats why they're slightly different tones, the one on the right will be the final tone of the armour

I like him! I think it would be interesting if you could see his teeth, too, since his mouth looks like it is slightly parted. Could make him a little more fierce-looking. . . . His nose still totally makes mine itch. :}

Dreamsenshi@
i tried mutiple sets of teeth and they all made him look beyond stupid so i stopped trying teeth and focused on the armour, also you'll be pleased to see that he now has is loin cloth

well heres the render, still don't know how to export the renders but i will find out

I think it's awesome! Maybe a little bit dark, but it feels right atmospherically-speaking. The only thing I would do (and this may be because of some bizarre need I have to make things cuter than what is necessary) is add some little creature to be scared of him or something that would otherwise enhance his character through 3rd view perception of something wimpy. :}

well i did some further work on my latest model and heres the progress

Asteric@
i basically use zsketch to build it up the HP base in zbrush and i then keep the resolution for the generation of the unified mesh around 128 or 180, with the model above the origional one was around 4000 polies.

hello again, i've decided that i won't be doing many scenes anymore as they take up time i could be using to make more models, but before i leave this guy i wanted to show you not only the model and base texture but both the normal map and displacement map and what it looks like when combined, so here it is, tell me what you think

eew. The first image at first made me think a little of Half-Life creatures, but as you added color and texture and the design grows, it looks more and more original. Looks like the type of creature who would be really tough if it caught up with you, but would have a lot of trouble running to catch you. :}

unfortunately my exams crept up on me and i wasn't able to finish it, but don't worry i only have two left and then the tutorial will be up, unless anyone has an issue with it i'd like to use the z brush default .mov, qaulity wise i find it better, but if you have an issue with that then let me know

anyway thanks for the comments and dreamsenshi, thanks i like the monsters from half life and i guess i must of had one of 'em on the back of my mind. anyway i just finished a quick model which i made to test a custom material i made, its essentially the pearl material but it has been made to look a bit more brassy/rusty. however unfortunately i'll have to redo the sculpt, but luckily not the texture or the rest as after i took this i closed and sucome to a computer artists nightmare, forgetting to hit save. oh wel won't be to hard but anyway here it is, i didn't mention that i named the one above a 'groam' and this one a 'gripe' (don't know why)

anyway tell me what you think

hello, i've started to do some work on a human character, thats right, something that could be real! well i decided to follow azunaki's advice and make an anatomical model.
so i've called him 'future cop' and right now all i have is the head but don't worry he will have a whole body.
anyway tell me what you think as usual

Green troll thing, needs something on the forearms, spikes, blades, guns, or the forearms make no point, they have no function.
Latest work - needs some shoulder pads, or shoulder detail to break up the flatness of the tunic

other than what arms usually do

But Fallen One is right, they aren't very interesting, some plating would look nice.

however i am pleased to say that i have made some progress on the 'future cop' model, remember guys it is still a WIP and i was origionally planning to put shoulder pads on him anyway, but here it is and please tell me what you think

both look rather good although the guy up above i have a few things to say about.

what exactly is the line on the side of the helmet for?
his neck has what appear to be odd lines on the side of the neck along with the adam's apple being to big. your clothing or armor seems very loose, in all the wrong places. you seem to have a bump in the middle of his back just below the shoulder blades. the belt should be tighter to the body but it looks like it is being effected by the cloth below it. you have the belt way to high as it looks like the belt is crossing his stomach mostly this is because you have no legs and no sign of legs even present and past the belt is the same amount out as above the belt.

thats all i can see at the moment.

azunaki@
everything you said i agree with, and when i come back to finish him i'll fix all those things.

anyway i'm posting to tell your that i have started on a new character, i spent about an hour on him last night, most of which was the face! i've called him 'horseman' and he is meant to be quite stylised, i kinda want to achieve a darksiders looks, now all i have to do is make his armour, texture him and find him an interesting pose...

Everything looks super cool Mazz426! The texture looks really nice, and the models are superb. The only thing I notice, (which may just be a nitpick) is some of the models look like they might fall over from not being balanced. Like their center of gravity is off or something. Anyway, great job!!

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.
