This is a perfect theme for me, I love post apocalypse settings. Besides, I need to make some post-apo stuff for my school project anyway so... count me in!

Ok, here we go.

Quote: "@Nickydude, are teams allowed for this compitition? Because if they are, you can add in me and Plystire."

No, only individual entries, this then makes it fair for everyone.
Quote: "
Is the sing FPSC only or can DBpro be used? ^o) obviously it would be harder, but i dont own FPSC."

In FPSC only, sorry.

Quote: "One question, my game is fallout and post apocalyptic based, but it's in a city setting. Is that still ok?"

That's fine.

Quote: "where should I upload the game when completed?"

There are a few free places where you can upload, I can't remember off hand but I'm sure someone will mention them.

Quote: "Now, to clarify for others - can X10 be used? I don't plan on using it, and I assume that by "any version of FPSC" you can use it, but the judges must then have an X10 capable computer which is why I ask."

Good point, most of the judges are working with XP so I would say avoid FPSC X10 as you won't get a full judging. I'll amend the rules for that.

Quote: "Does it specifically has to be a post-NUCLEAR WAR setting? Or are other post-apocalyptic scenarios also allowed? Like earth after a giant meteor impact p.e? "

Some sort of apocalyptic disaster should have happened so yes a meteor impact will be ok.

Quote: "Does it have to be the *exact* near future or are alternate timeline scenarios also possible? In fact Fallout is set in an alternate future that is mostly a 50ies setting. A post-war/disaster scenario in a Bioshock setting (=20ies) with bond1's new pack could also yield interesting results."

It can be any timeline but must be apocalyptic. I would say that bond's theater pack, while outstanding of course, is not really apocalyptic.

AMENDMENT TO RULES
|- ANY version of FPS Creator can be used that can run on XP, Vista & Windows 7, including modded. This does, unfortunately exclude X10 as the games won't run on XP.

This contest is going to be great, I am currently almost done with my 1st level and pretty much have a good story for the entire game and level designs popping up left and right in my head. To add to my excitement I did a totaling of the people who said they were going to do it and a total of people who were unsure if they were going to do it.

People saying "I am in" = 16
People unsure = 7

We have a ways to go so the numbers could go up, down, sideways, or whatever ways

I bet if it wasn't me and Kravenwolf trying to team up then it would have been alowed. Lol, j/k. But it did make me wonder.

That's fine, though. I really should be concentrating on other things right now... I'll see if I can work on this in what little spare time I can squeeze out.

It didn't cross my mind about teams when making the rules but when I saw that you and Kravenwolf might team up I though I might as well hand over the prizes now lol!

We would have gladly accepted!

But, really, don't worry about it. We had qualms about pretty much everything, so it wasn't progressing very quickly.

We did agree on a few points. Ply and me were going to arrange an inventory system, so you could combine weapons/items like a steel pipe, first aid spray, and a lighter, to create a do-it-yourself flamethrower. I even had a wolf dog in the works the player could send out to retrieve new items.

Oh well, maybe me and Ply can still get something done for the VBOTB Good luck to everyone who participates in this compitition!

Wow, Kraven, that homemade flamethrower setup is sick! Any chance you'll release that one for sale or something when the contest is over?

I am sorry, but I am going to have to drop out. I have had numerous computer issues, and will not be able to make anything by the deadline. Thanks for starting such a great competition, but maybe next time. Good luck to all contenders and may the best game-developer win!
-Susysyay

PS-There ought to be a competition for military style games. There arent many FPSC games like that!

Ok since I'm finaly fixed my FPSC and I'm now ready to make game, I have some questions.
-Can I make a thread in the WIP section about my entry?
-Does a world that suffered destruction from mass histeria, count as a apocalyptic theme?

What you see isn't always real....

One question. Does a city destroyed by a group of people count as a apocalyptic theme?

Take STALKER as an example. Although its not set after the *end of the world*, imo it would qualify because the game takes playe ONLY in the Csernobyl disaster area.

I would think as long as the game is strictly set in a disaster-struck area it might also be isolated, like a single town, or island. "Metro 2033" is set mainly in the Moscow Underground Train tunnels.

The destruction you mentioned, should probably include a nuclear, chemical, biological or natural disaster that also laid waste to the area, it shouldn't appear to be simply war-torn.

But thats just my personal interpretation.

It's the same difference.

The complete file that is to be downloaded should be no more than 200mb, of course you can zip it up to make the overall file size smaller.

As long as the game looks ruined (like in the supplied images) and not just empty buildings / town.

Also, attached is another image for your inspiration.
