I am trying to use DarkBasic, but everytime I try to do *anything* with this program (even exit!), the DarkBasic screen freezes for about 60 seconds, then does what it was suppose to do (such as PRINT "HELLO WORLD"). Has anyone ever seen this problem? I have updated the video drivers, ordered XP to emulate WIN 95, turned down the video graphics, etc. (I run XP, and I have a computer that is loaded with memory and is a two year old Dell with a Pentium processor).

Thanks,

Mike

You might have to give us Detailed system specs for us to try to do anything. And why do you have it to emulate in win95 mode? DarkBasic runs fine on my machine, and I have nothing set to emulate on 95 mode.

Hi Omega,

Sorry, but I mean I have tried all of those things only *after* the game exhibited this 60 second freezing problem. This included having DarkBasic emulate WIN 95, WIN 98, WIN 2000/NT, etc. -- and anything else I could think of!

Thanks,

-Mike

my dbc takes ages when switching from the editor to the program and vice versa do you only get the problem when you try to compile/ return to the editor?

JUST LIST SOME DETAILED SYSTEM SPECS!!!!!

We might be able to figure out the problem from just the specs.

Hi ReD_eYe,

I get this delay problem when I do anything at all: when I go to the CLI, or go out of the CLI, or run a snippet of test code, or close the program, or etc. It is really weird: its as if DarkBasic is completely frozen (mouse pointer too), but then comes out of it after about sixty seconds. It would take me a 100 years to write any program at this rate!

Thanks,

-Mike

your problem and your computer stats dont mix (well, as far as I can tell) so I'd say you should get pro. Its completely Windows XP compatible.

I have a problem with darkbasic. Everything works fine except exiting my games which takes forever until I remove any audio cds I might have in my cd drives. It took me forever to discover what the problem was but I am sure now that the presence of audio cds in my drive is part of it. Maybe it's the same problem for you. You never know.

Take care

I had a problem with DarkBASIC too : sometimes when using it for an hour or two, it shuts my computer down. Now I use DarkEDIT, and I don' have this problem anymore

AtomR,

Dude! You were right on the money! *ANY* CD in the CD drive will cause that 60 second hang-up. Thanks a lot for the great fix!!

I have the worst problem with DB, being that I can only run it once per use of the computer, if I quit I have to reboot or else it freezes when I run it again. This means I can't use darkedit which keeps running DB.

Remember all, DB uses ALL AVAILABLE MEMORY, so start up your DB BEFORE starting any other devices/proggies. With that CD in the drive, the PC is using a bit if memory, and DB doesnt have much to work with. Make sure you have little to nothing running, then run DBC.

Yeah, no problems here either, been listening to the Linkin Park Meteora CD all day, even when I run DarkBasic, and all is well.

a reboot problem could be a case of MSblaster, but it doesnt sound as regular as what that nasty does.
