k while i was reading this subject "does it seem like there are more n00bs than usual?" i thought well sometime i do ask a question or 2 about programming but not rediculous ones like "How do i make a matrix?" and "how do i make a proper sprite like in final fantasy?" not that i have seen those questions but soon i guess they will pop up. So any way PEOPLE DONT BE N00BS i guess you can ask a few questions about programming if you are really puzzled but seriously ppl not stupid ones where its like people are making your games for you!!

You got one chance

I think always having a go first is a good policy. If you can't get code to work, put it up and see if people can help.

It's always best to show you have put some effort in, rather than try and get somebody else to do the work for you.

PS shouldn't this be in general talk?

Theres no place like 127.0.0.1

I think the newbies should just use the search. Its the first thing I did when I came here.

I still do it, lot's of answers are already answered. It's silly to open up a topic then and wait till somebody gives the answer.... again.

I do this with any software package, script whatever that has a support forum btw. Just a handy tip. Use the search. Saves time and energy and you'll have much quicker answers.

Looks like my post on the n00b thread started something...

Yeah, new users, please be reasonable and understanding. Don't get ahead of yourselves.

You joined in December 2002, the search has only been available for the last couple of weeks!

You can also search trough any forum without a search using google, just use the url such as: 'thegamecreators.com matrix editor' (just an example)

Of course, the url wasn't thegamecreators.com back then but you catch my drift!

But you got a point, before this forum didn't have a search, so not every newbie uses google because they might not know that trick and the forum is without one. So logically they ask.

But now it has one, so they can!!!! Hmmmm I kinda feel like strongbad with my little speech there.

also when searching for something in the forums use different ways of phrasing something if you dont find what you are looking for, Often i find completely different results just from re-phrasing something

True, but you should see the search prases some people type in, I think maddox sayd it best when he typed this article about 'stupid' search prases:

http://maddox.xmission.com/porn.html

I don't always agree with this guy, but he is funny. hehe....

I've seen so many questions that could be answered simply by reading the manual.
