Here's a pic of a racing pod I'm modelling for my competition entry.
It's made in Wings3D and is 201 polys. Any advice and opinions are welcome, and be gentle 'cos its my first serious attempt at modelling

Cheers,

UFO!!!

I see you used a separate sphere for the cockpit window.

Try this instead...

delete the sphere,

Select a few of the underneath faces,

Region Extrude them using their Normals' axis, about halfway from the sphere's height, hit Shift-D to repeat the action once,

Once extruded, don't deselect the top face(s),

Hit Numpad's + to grow the selection unto the bottom,

Hit S to smooth the extrusion and don't deselect yet,

Change the selection type to Vertice,

RMB menu choose Deform/Inflate and play a bit with it until you get a spheroid shape,Tighten as well if needed and tweak.

There you got a solid one mesh model.

Thanks Actarus, I'll try that. Although if I wanted to be able to open the cockpit, would that still be possible if its all the one mesh?

IF you need it to be interactive/animated,I believe you'll need it as it is...A limb/segment.

yes keep it like separate segment but may be you can consider to make it les poly. And then you have to model also interier of the cockpit...

Othervise its nice model ...simple but efective...good work

Lol, yea, try mirroring the image in a paint package and you'll see what it looks like from behind
