Im hoping someone here has heard of Bink by Radgames. It is a FMV tool for games that has been used for years by most games companies as the FMV tool of choice. Anyway as I have asked in the newbees section can DB open and run a Bik file?

Cheers

I doubt it, but you can make the BIK file into a exe. You can then have DB run the exe, wait until the video is over and go on.

I did it once for my NWN module.

I think it would cost a packet to license it... Why not contact the Bink people and find out ?

Darkbasic can use these files as I have tried them and they work.

Its not free
the player of the vidoes is free
but you need to buy a Bink SDK for your games
and its cost 5,000 for a game

The tools are free, it costs money for the SDK to have the BIK files to run in your game.

Bioware has a good tut on how to use it.

The SDK costs a pretty penny, but beyond that the rest is free.
