Hey guys,

I'm working on a medieval/fantasy game at the moment and because there's a lack of good medieval models I decided to make my own. I've been modeling for about 4-5 months with breaks in between. Anyway, here is my first medieval model, it's a house.

This is looking good. Between this and your castle (walls) you have been working on, looks like you have the makings of a good pack. You are correct- there is a lack of good medieval models. Perhaps that will change one day.

Okay so the house is 90% done. My texturing job sucks big time. Need to change a couple of things. only few things left to texture like the door and a few windows

That's pretty good. I am still learning the "texture" side of model making, so I can not comment or critique on what you have done. IMO, it is really impressive. I like the roof detail you have provided.

I suppose with this as your base model, you can modify it to produce a few different "variants" of the medieval house and have a pack.

Texturing is a pain at times, but it looks like you got a good handle on it. Looking very good.

These look great. You two definitely have some great skills and the making of a great pack. Will be following this very closely.

Comment on the tower. At first glance, the door looks a bit "out-of-place", meaning it looks too big for the actual size of the tower. If it were me, I might consider making the tower a bit wider on the four sides to give the illusion that it is a large tower. However, if you had two of these in place with a wall in between, then it could serve as a guard tower. Then the door is perfect in that aspect. But it is still great work nonetheless.

Cheers

Mike

Well that really depends on how big he wants it to be, it looks maybe a bit large but still it could be a small tower ^_^

This is top-notch work. Looks real good. We definitely would have a strong use for items like these. I am learning a few things just by watching this work in progress.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for info on a release, etc. If you sell it, I may have to buy two so we can send one to Thraxas for a present

Thanks a lot all! Means a lot to me, keeps me motivated haha!
Afrokid is going so fast on his models, so I HAD to make another model. I present you, the spinning wheel (2130 polys, hard to keep it low on such a complex item as this. At least it's lower than Heltor's 9532 poly spinning wheel lol).

Wow. I was showing my wife these. She is just getting into model making and after looking at these said "these guys put my first model to shame"

You two have been working hard on these, and the detail looks great. Nice work.

thanks , what program is she using? and if she needs any help just ask and i'll try my best to help.

i think ive had enough modeling for today and might start texturing them and getting them into fpsc, i still need to start making the game haha, i just brought EAI's 2h and 1h sword and dagger so i should be ready to go.

does anyone have any C&C for us, it would be great to know how to improve these models

Edit: i hope you dont mind but i just added you in msn

She and I use Wings 3d, although I also have used Milkshape.

I like how the guard tower turned out. Even the windmill looks great. The idea of a gate-bridge was what drew us in. The little details like that get us interested.

Perhaps some added models to your pack would be items like a stable, catapult, some various items such as a pitch fork, water trough for the animals to drink out of, a water pump (the old-style hand pump), a cannon or some other items for defense, etc. Then you have a medieval pack where people could build their little castle and have the necessities to start with. Just ideas...

Cheers

@BlackFox: Lucky for you I was already planning to make a canon and a catapult. The stable is a really good idea.

anyway, I just made another model, it's a pillory

Honestly, you two are great at modeling, but you need to make the render more appealing .

@SJHooks: I don't want to make it look better than it actually is.

@Quik: On which model(s) do you see smoothing problems? I think we'll make the textures when we have a decent amount of models.

Anyway here is my latest model, a catapult. Quite detailed, I think I can cut the polycount to 3000.

Well when you texture it and put it in a game, I'd imagine the game makers would want to achieve a good render anyways. My point is if you can render it to make it look more appealing, than the same effect can probably be acheived in a game. Plus, I think a simple dark grey background color would add a great deal of attention to your model, in fact, that's all I would try to fix at this point, seeing as the lighting of the model is pretty good already.

You can use real time shaders and renderers such a Marmoset which gives you great renders, and it acts just like a game engine would in real time, so you are not cheating or making it look better than it is in any way, i high recommend marmoset, and dont get scared at the challenging interface Its not as bad as it looks.

i have a render i did at my school that if your interested i can get. i have pic of it on my phone but its rather low quality i would rather show the other one.(that is if your interested)

you can email me at azunaki1@gmail.com which is the best way to contact me.

also check out cinema 4D's render system at

oh guys, I said I was trying to learn how to model characters. Well I've just (kinda) finished my first character. It still needs a few details and it has some smoothing errors. It is a templar. If I'm able to texture and rig this guy, and if you like it I will add it to the pack. It's only my first character though, so dont get mad haha.
