My green thumb grew the tree my Trojan War horse was crafted from. With roses in our pockets we rally round the tombstones. Ashes to ashes, we all fall down.

Yeah, I always laugh when someone suggests notepad.
Just Google "HTML Editor Free" and you'll find a bunch tot try - search for the last time someone asked this. I think it was last week. Here it is.

Well, what i do is write an, 'Engine' per say, and use it as a base for what i want to do in the future, in notepad or advanced html.

Of course my grandpa does web design and photography for a living. You can check out his site http://ccwriter.com

ORLY?!

That is a super nice picture, Master Man Of Justice.

I would much rather sit down and type up some HTML. I think it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish, though. WYSIWYGs are great for quickly building a page, but it is sure nice to know how to go into notepad and edit out all the crap that your WYSIWYG puts in. And starting in notepad is a great way to familiarize yourself with the language. But all in all, what ever floats your boat. Whiskey or Vodka. Either will get you drunk, but Vodka comes up clear.

notepad works fine for simple webbsites and small projects

i believe it would be messy for a huge and advanced webbsite though, dreamweaver is good, although expensive.. so no help there^^

wish i could suggest something else, but iam not experienced anywhere else

I use Notepad++ for the majority of my web development. However, for professional corporate sites built in JSP that are on the same level of size as Amazon (a previous job of mine, no not with amazon) then we use Eclipse. Not that I couldn't do it in notepad, but the organization needed to manage a few hundred different files would be a headache without Eclipse.

hmm, i have just started to use Drewamweaver on school, and for those who can afford it, buy it. it really is awesome, you have 2 kind of development options or how to say, maybe interfaces would be better fit? one called Design, which works a bit like Word Document, and looks a bit like it, meaning you type stuff, drag pictures, and stuff and the programm does the coding for you, and, incase u feel like editing the coding itself you have the coding interface.

i like it a lot^^ i havent used it much though but the little ive used it, i liek.

PSPad is another nice free alternative. Supports a lot of languages without any addons or plugins.
