I'd like to enter my little Hard Surface model, however I have no idea what format we need to upload the models/textures in?

Hmm, I tried that, however Modo will only export .obj with just the diffuse map. And I'd like to keep the specular and normal maps with the model. :S

Can we upload as .lxo?

you could probably export to .3DS or .x(not sure on the .x though)

As long as the UV map is exported correctly, I don't think it matters too much on what materials are exported with the file, just as long as the appropriate images are provided with the download. I know that when I use darkbasic, I assign all the textures individually anyway.

Quote: "not sure on the .x though"
You could probably upload the .x file with another, but I would go the .obj or .3ds route. It makes it easier for others to open it inside of their modeling app.

Nice models, fellas!

***Important Notice:...

Contest Deadline has been extended to August 24th. Main reason, we would like the prop room to have more stuff inside. It's kind of sparse, see for yourself..

We encourage people to make more than one object, and entering more objects will earn bonus points when it comes to judging.

Now get back to building props, there's plenty of room in here for much more props.

Cheers!

Hi, I am glad the deadline has been moved to aug who knows, I might even work out why black aspects of my models (texture maps)are turning transparant by then!!! I know its prob so ppl can design HUD`s etc but then how do ppl use black as a solid colour? (yes, you guessed it, im new.. one week old!).. am loving the stuff posted to date, keep up the good work guys n gals

PS: I know I dont stand a chance of wining against all you pros but its a chance to get involved eh!

Orion_Uk

pure black in fpsc is transparant ,all you need to do is pick a lighter variation of black in your painting program & you will be ok .

Quote: "I know I dont stand a chance of wining against all you pros but its a chance to get involved eh!"

thats a great attitude you have there ,its a shame more people dont think like you .its not winning that matters its playing the game.you never know you could win,im my own bigest critic & think a lot of my work is crap but ive still won a few comps since ive been modeling, you should start your own thread & post up a few of your models for some crits its a great way to get some tips for improving your work (beware a few people can be a bit harsh though)

good luck

cheers henry

I agree with henry. I'm a perfectionist so when I model it's never good enough...eventually I just say something is done even though I think it looks horrible in my eyes.

Never know until you try.

I might just finish my model.

I finished it a while ago. It's not that I didn't like it, it's that I couldn't get around to UV mapping it...I hate UV mapping so much.

Well, I guess I'll just force myself to do it.

MUST

ENTER

COMP

well heres the thing i mentioned earlier, its nothing mind blowing and if only one entry is allowed to be counted then please count the TV as my final entry, this is just a metal workbench, i scaled it so that the TV would fit on it rather nicely

@henry ham, Thank for the PB tip, was thinking in that direction but as im new to fpsc I was not sure if it was an error I was making in fpsc or in my paint app lol! Getting there now.

no offence, but it looks a lot like plastic henry, model seems fine but.. the glitterly plastically gray look make it look like.. plastic

Would this count as a prop?

If so, here's the DL.

Each night the Boogie man checks under his bed for Chuck Norris, but he wakes up several times throughout the night to make sure General Jackson isn't under it.

General Jackson, first, yes that does qualify as a prop. Second, I can not load the model with texture into Bryce, Bryce does not recognize DDS (Direct Draw Surfaces) as a valid image format. Could I get the texture in a .jpg format?
