If we were to run another competition in which you had to recreate a retro game, like in our Space Invaders competition, which retro game would you like us to base it on?

I think Gauntlet would make for an awesome competition, but there's not a huge amount of scope with that. A retro platformer compo would be good, because then you have all those classic games, bubble bobble, LodeRunner, Snow Bros, hell there's probably thousands of retro platformers that could use a makeover.

What about Gianna Sisters? I really loved that game. It was one of the first games I played on my first computer (Commodore 64). It was also a game that I always wanted to remake. So, one of these days I'll probably will. First I'll finish my BRIXOID game (nearly completely done) and then I'll focus on another to finish (could be Gianna Sisters or maybe a biljart game or an adventure/action game).

Slayer rules!!! Yeaaah, man!

If its an oldschool genre based competition then I think it should be platformer. Its rigid enough for everybody to know what it is, but loose enough for everybody to bring in interesting ideas and concepts.

Metal Gear Solid... not to hard, easy for models, simple walking, simple collision, simple AI, advance all that and you get the best game(The one who wins).

Warrior one of my all time favorites, I remember as a kid this game just blowing me away, looking back its pretty simple as the background was just reflected onto the screen from above.

I would be for a guantlet competition. I think the rules could be made broad enough to create a "hack n slash" adventure button masher that enough variety could be made.

Hahaha... yup, you young whipper snapper. I remember when I first saw it in the arcade. We had to hunt and kill many dinosaurs to get the quarters needed to play Gauntlet.

You'd love it if you did play it.

I see that as plain old sarcasm, not every thing is trolling.

Anyway, a platformer game would be a good choice to remake, or maybe one of the old adventure games from Sierra (point and click type).

Hm, Gauntlet seems cool but not that differnt from your average 2D game. You go around, shoot assorted baddies, maybe have a few characters, differnt weapons, not much of a storyline, see what I mean? We should do one where there's really something to take from. Original games. I'm imagining right now what I could do with Metal Gear Solid. Basically the same thign but with a new location. GOTHAM CITY! Fight as as you go through Gotham fighting all your favorite villains, and sneaking though several buildings, turning in criminals with new tactics every time you enter a room. Coming soon!

Not that I could actually make that.

No, infact he is from the future when Modern Warfare is officially retro, and this is like many old websites where posts are generated to reply to him and the threads main topic, infact I'm a generated person as I generate this message.

I think Metal Gear Solid, but it would be nice to see a demake, where you take a modern game and turn it into a retro game.

Couldn't get near a Gauntlet cabinet when I was a kid, I was about 10 years old. All the "older" 14-16 year olds hogged that thing. I might get a quarters worth of gameplay in before I'd get muscled out of the way.

That said, I'd vote for a Donkey Kong remake!
