it's looking good, are you planning on baking the high poly details onto a low poly model?

Looks good billy, only crit i have on the rock, is that, well, it looks more like a gift wrapped in brown paper.

If you made the texture look not tight around the edges it would look like a brick

Ok, here's the deal, I have pics of the brick, but I'm too lazy to get the picture to be 100% honest so I'll link you to the polycount thread it's in

http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77308&page=3 there you go.

And now, to the picture I have, first speed sculpt good enough to be the first speedie in my digital sketchbook

sorry bros, and um MMOJ your almost their, basically this is an outer decoration piece for an ampitheater/coloseum situation. It's seated on top of it, and pretty large so that people can essentially, while still not being in the main seating, climb on the steps and view what's going on, a large statue will also be placed on top.

Ah i see, the problem is then the wear is too large compared to the subject, making it look like a tiny item.

that looks much better if you ask me. It is much easier to see it as a large object rather then a lump of clay. Good work!

The pillar looks great, though it could use a little more detail (the texture looks a bit blurred in the screenshot.) Perhaps try adding a detail-normal to make it look a bit more rough?

The normals dont seem so strong on the center piece of the column, or maybe its the lighting.

I dont think any stairs are that damaged. Aren't stairs all one huge slab or wood/stone? Not 4 mini ones.

the damage also is painted in way to huge patches and also it all seems way too random, like if sdomeone took a sledgehammer and hit it randomly

eh, i hate to disagree with you, but not really. As you can see, I put most of the damgage focus on the edges, which of course would make the most sense seeing as they are the most exposed. Now, with so many years of use, and hundreds of years of erosion (being an ANCIENT staircase) Seems to make a lot of sense to me that the damage can be pretty widespread, if you get what I mean, don't want to sound like an ass, but...yeah

I was pointing towards the damagewhich was not on the edges, it seems rather random and not from hundreds of years of erusion

I'm digging the architectural stuff, consider also that if these are all meant to be ancient ruins, in addition to surface damage, you would expect to find portions and blocks missing entirely or laying loose nearby.

I think he means the surface is plastic looking... but since ive followed most of your work thus far I can say that this doesnt have any finished kind of material on it.(WIP)anyway good form on the model so far.

looks good mate clean & simple but your scale is way off ,unless its from a dwarfs temple you really should use reference it will help you to avoid making simple mistakes like this in the future.
looking forward to seeing it textured.
