so i was thinking, someday when the games will start having better graphics, my HD5870 just wont cut it any more. I have built my system with future proofing in mind so it would be cheaper to upgrade it when the time comes, replace my quadcore with a six core or overclock the cpu (my mb is good at OCing) the question i have is about my radeon HD5870. I bought a gigabyte brand. On the russian market the most widespread HD5870 is a powercolor one but i dont trust that company. and the whole situation with parts is tight on the russian market, as soon as something gets slightly outdated it dissapears from the market and knowing this in the future i will have a lot of trouble finding another gigabyte HD5870. So my question is will another brand of this model work in crossfire? like if i have one gigabyte HD5870 and one sapphire HD5870 in crossfire? will that work?

btw sorry for the long rant i tend to get carried away

Maybe but possibly not! That's not supported by the manufacturers

I know with Nvidia cards, as long as it's the same card, it will work with SLI. I don't think it matters about the brands.

If its the same GPU model, you can usually crossfire them, like a powercolor HD 5870 with a ASUS HD 5870 or whatever.

Just the series must be the same for example Sapphire 5870 and Gigabyte 5870,must work. Even 5870 and 5850 should work on some motherboards.
