Hey all,

It's been almost 3 years since I bought a new PC, so it's about high time to do so. This new one is pretty intense... 2 factory-overclocked video cards, 2 hard drives on RAID 0, and a CPU that I can overclock to 4.15GHz Anyone have any critiques or suggestions before I place the order? I'm getting a good deal too.

Sweet! Can I have it?

How could you resist this face?:

The 2,000,000th TGC post was made in MY ww2 weapons thread!

(I should now be a TGC legend, right?)

I would have suggested going for a faster CPU, Intel i7 Extreme. But other than that, looks pretty sweet.

I want it too! Please?!

Anyway, looks like a good build to me, are you gonna overclock the RAM?

EDIT: Hasn't intel released a hexa-core CPU yet?

Seeing as the Extreme is almost $1000 more, I'm going to opt out of that one

What monitor are you going to use with it?
I would also suggest replacing the DVD burner with a Blu-Ray, it's definately worth it with a system of that spec.

Sweet freaking deal. Awesome PC.

My only suggestion would be to extend your warranty, personally, I think paying extra for warranty is worth it, even if your computer doesn't break down, you don't want to find that you pay all that money and it breaks down once your 1 year warranty runs out. It was a mistake I made with my laptop, and when the person at the store said, "do you want to pay £100 for a 3 year extended warranty, covers accidental damage etc.?" my response was, "no thank you, I'm too careful to let that happen."

I have two 24" screens I am going to transfer from my current PC

I was considering Blu-Ray, but the blank discs are too expensive. Also, hard drives have come down in price so much that it's not worth buying $10 discs for 25GB in storage.

I would totally do that if I was buying a laptop. For a desktop, though, I can swap out anything if there's an issue. The PC will be under my desk, so I can't see myself dumping coffee into it.

That's quite the nice system! I couldn't beat the price on Newegg.ca, especially since your purchase includes Windows! However, if you are going to do a lot of gaming or work with a DAW, I recommend you get a sound card.

Edit: I think yours looks better, but check out this system I built on Dell's Canada website:
http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=daa51_f_1e&c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&model_id=alienware-area51 (12GB RAM!)

VERY nice choice of parts! Happy gaming!

I'd piece together the same system as well, except I'd go for the more stoic Corsair 800D full tower case.

And yeah, screw Blu-ray...

The configuration is great,a lot of money too. I have to keep looking where to find cheaper and cheaper parts for my pc so I can go under 400 bucks haha.

@Jeku,

That's still a good deal for the hardware!

I myself don't have much money so I would go for older hardware, but that system should last like a Toyota.

I would have suggested to go with ATI rather than Nvidia, as ATI seem to be overtaking Nvidia at the moment and their cards are a lot cheaper.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz, 2.0GB Single-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz, ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-X

ATI has some of the most horrible support and drivers on the planet. Plus the new CUDA features on the GTX470 seem pretty awesome.

Yeah, generally nvidea do better on the drivers side, but ATI do better with the actual graphics card.

I suggest this, multiplier unlocked for easy overclocking. I'm gonna use this to build my new comp soon.
