i would guess that since game models have to be made of triangles it would be 5000 tris

here is my contest entry. IT IS A ZOMBIE i know it will not win but i thought it would be fun to participate.

here's me trying to load the image. not sure how to do it.

if you want to download it and give it a try you have to go to my website http://www.chaosbrosfilms.com go to joe's page and D/L the contest zombie that is in the .x format. the animation frame numbers and 3 textures are included. please read the READ ME file included.
while you are there, D/L and watch some of our films (shameless plug ) can't wait to see other entries!

EDIT: i forgot to add the model info
it has 1088 tris
is animated: walk/run/idle/hurt/die/attack
has 3 texture variations in jpg format 1024x1024

Great work so far from everyone

I was gonna put a wip shot of my character... but could not get it down to 5000 in blender...

So... back to work work with something less ambitious lol

Ok, heres my model, a mutant pumpkin.

Stuck in a sewer for all this time it grew a few rows of teeth (to defend itself from the rats of cause ;_) ) and lost its wonderful orange sheen.

Well actually... I am cr@p at texturing...and animation ...lol... forget it!
Tho you could add an anim to make its mouth open and close?? maybe??

But I will leave it to you experts for that.

I know this is not gonna win, but it was fun doing it, and if anyone can use it, thats cool

if that's what the pumpkins look like in your neighborhood then remind me to never come trick-or-treat there

that's actually pretty cool, "a blow fish pumpkin" good work iceman.

WOW... Josh.. thats great m8. Very well done. Like the metal effect Is it a sword hilt by the way, cos it looks like it could be?

Anyway....

Even tho as I said before, I am cr@p at texturing, but I wanted to add one more model for this comp and so I thought seen as everyone else has textured theirs, I would give it a go.

So... We had, Spiderman, then we had Spiderpig, so I give you....

Spiderpump (kin)

It was fun doing the texturing/painting, but... Never again! lol.

Here is mine, a bloody machete.

It is (crudly) animated.

Everyone's work looks great! I don't think I have a chance, either way though, it was fun, happy Halloween .

Download attached, hope I made it in time.

@Iceman,

...wow. Outstanding work on your spiderpumkin.

The .tif diffuse texture map you supplied in the DL is corrupt.

Any chance that you could repost it?

Any word on the results? Almost been a week, not pushing though. No rush.

...seriously, my sig was deleted because of 8 pixels? Oh well, no hard feelings to the mod who did it.

Some of the Judges are away at the moment, but to compensate, the next compo will run through November into December, so you'll have plenty of time to make some great models.

Cheers!

@David Gervais
im curious, do you have to be a mod to judge the 3D compo's? if not then that would be something i'd be interested in

@mazz426

Yes at the moment the judging is limited to the 'Mods'. But we might have the community help with the judging for the next compo, it would be nice to be able to enter a contest myself,.. a community judging system might allow that.

Cheers!

Josh, is your texture UV mapped or a procedural texture applied in the rendering software?

Cheers!

Procedural. Then I used an HDRI map for the lighting. If you happen to have Truespace(free download) then you can view the file. Download attached.

David: I'd be willing to take your place as judge on the next compo so you can enter.
