Due to lack of good textures as well as texture making skills I decided to see what I could manage to do with Lightwave's procedural textures and texture baking. I was really pleased with the result =) I'm gonna fix it up a little in Photoshop but it's amazing how easy it was to get it look like this.

This is a test render from DBP. 100% made in LW and then exported to .x and loaded into DBP with all settings default:

Edit:
Updated with a closer shot and a black background.

Still using only LW I have updated the texture. The edges are much more defined now and I have added more detail to the darker texture.

Btw, this model uses:
806 Triangles
1 256x256x24 Bitmap

Looks nice but why didn't you use shaders or any other rendertree elements to bake?

That's one of the main point.

Like what? My LW skills are mostly in modeler. I wouldn't mind some tips if it makes my game look better.

I messed around some in layout and came up with this. It's mostly added bumpmaping and increasing light intensity. It really added more detail to the *beep*. Not gonna tell what it is yet =P

C&C is welcome, most of the posts here are mine so far =(

I don't like the sound of "If you can afford... I'm actually too scared to check it out...

Feel free to guess what it is. If you're correct I will tell you so. It's no big deal if it gets out. But I have a feeling you're wrong =P
