Maybe with analog cables, but with digital cables like HDMI it's pointless. You either have the signal or you don't.
As for length, shielding becomes more important the longer it gets.
I have some of the higher-end monster cables I got on ebay, I certainly wasn't paying $80 for them. But I hear great things about mono cables and they're dirt cheap in comparison. That's not saying all cheap cables will be of equal quality because they're not.
As Jerico said, it's really a scam for money. It costs pennies to make these cables.
