I just don't understand why their products are so large. I have a credit card that I pay online. They now require Adobe Reader to view statements. It is a free download so I downloaded it and begin the installer. It requires over 420 megs of disk space. Almost 1/2 gig just to read a pdf file ???? I have over 700 gigs free, but I refuse to put this bloated mess on my machine. It seems like all Adobe products are huge for what they actually do.

You can view them online, but obviously that's not something i'd recommended for documents with personal information.

I can and have set up to receive the files by e-mail and have other pdf readers that work. To view online I have to use Adobe though as that is the only plugin support by the bank. Just strange that all of Adobes programs are huge in comparison to others.

You can get the Foxit PDF Reader software that's free and can read PDFs online. I would trust it with my own credit card, because I check all my statements in detail, but it's up to your own risk.

I also have been using Foxit for a few years now, much faster than Adobe's PDF reader.

I am not sure I have explained it right My bank tries to show the statement in a pop-up window and the only install option is Adobe Reader. No other PDF readers are supported. I can't view the statement from the site directly without Adobe. I have used Foxit in the past, but OS X reads and writes PDFs with no other software needed so I generally don't worry about it. I just can't see the bank Statement without Abobe and it is strictly a problem on the Bank's side.

But how is that possible? The bank might say that you need Adobe Reader, but I've never run into a situation where it is actually the only software that can read a PDF. I too do all my banking online and while they try to point me in the direction of Adobe I never use it.

If you have Foxit installed, the popup should automatically use Foxit as the associated PDF viewer. Only two reasons I could see it suggesting Adobe. Either no PDF viewer is currently installed, or your bank statements have some kind of DRM in the PDF which would require Acrobat since I don't believe Foxit supports that. I had online school books that needed Adobe Acrobat to be viewed because of that junk, very annoying since I used a Mac for school.

I have no problems reading normal PDFs. Just can't read the Credit Card Statement online and have to have it e-mailed. I refuse to use Adobe products as a rule and hate Reader.

Here is the screen shot with only one option. There are no other ways to read it while connected to the Credit Card site.

You should change banks if they force you to use a piece of software other than a browser to do online banking. Seriously

I see a little link that says "Click Here to Save". Then open it in your viewer of choice.
